him and KRS wud be my second picks but both have had some duds.

black thought has nowhere near the quality hof verses, albums or appearances.
as g rap in the past twenty years.

when, you mention krs...
he definitely isn't in krs's distinction at all.

krs has dropped back to back classics on two occasions.
the second occasion just occurring recently with marley marl and adventures in emcee'n.
plus, a damn near classic duet album with buckshot.
where, every verse was another undisputed goat distinguishing outing.
plus, dropped the actual blueprint record in the gen.
that lead to illmatic being made as well.

black thought is just an okay guy.
culturally, he is also a sellout as well.
so, I really am not about to forgive that cat, meester whatdeydo, at all.

for all the parading of this cat in this thread.
I notice no one has mentioned that yet.
also,..his impersonation of kane is not that great, either.

as I seen the shyt on stage since the battle between the fugees.
all the way to the current era as well.
if you are going to point out nas's and other shortcomings.
we definitely have to point out meester whatdeydo's bullshyt as well.

especially since they sold out, and hid their hands the most out of anyone.
on all planes from video, to tv, to internet[okayplayer].

no way in hell, I give blackthought props over more actual upstanding emcees.
nor, is he that prolific as an emcee, like that either.

duke has not held my attention on the mic since, distortion to static.
on top of trying to stiff common out of I used to love her.
to the point, common actually stiffed him for his entire technical rubrick and ran with it.
while, both made a mockery of their former selves.

on top of in person,...
plus, his whole band.
being the worst collection of bytchmade simps in rap, too.

ol' I saw her first I think she is my girlfriend face ass nikkaz.

I have to admit a HUGE gap in my hip-hop culture...I've never listened to an entire Roots album :snoop:

I don't even know why, I've liked basically every song I've heard...for some reason never happened:yeshrug:

His verse on Bird's Eye View is insane tho :wow:

im with u :snoop:

ive only heard illadelph halflife all the way thru and i loved it. i dont know why i dont listen to them more, every time i hear a song im :gladbron:

jada is in the discussion

sau what u want about his catalogue but show me a wack verse

Jada kills his features...but show me a great album from Jada? [FONT]

what you mean rae actually being at his best?

beats were raekwons downfall. he was nicer in 98 than he ever was. horrible post

I don't know if you trolling or what but most would easily say Immobilarity is Rae's weakest work. It completely pales in comparison to OB4CL 2...let alone 1 which is one of the 5 albums of all time IMO. [FONT]

one of the most consistent, cant really argue.
a lot of times though i found myself wishing he had more control over the musical direction of the joints. or wanting to hear a dirty solo project outside of the roots
he was clearly left to rescue some of those beats with his verses, instead the beats being catered to him. i think that held him back

love this thread, thoughts the man, an elite MC. with that said I agree with Art his record is highly tainted.

he made it hard for me to like him and I felt like he was comin from this other place (philly) hating on NY and my nikkaz (nas, mobb, BIG).

he redeemed himself with that pun record where he replaced canibus but shortly after went into super sambo mode with that whole jayz thing.

onto that he put out that subliminal diss to nas (I have it) and he is lucky he approached the situation as he did because if you heard him on combat jack he made it seem trivial.

nothing trivial about your band playing live instrumentation of jayzs diss records and your records so jayz can rap over them dissing you.

I think thought is lucky Nas kept those jabs to just a few cmments and not a track.

what truck said too, this ngga never had a solo so when you bring up Jadakiss he is definitely in the running cuz he has albums.

it goes KRS > Nas > Black Thought > Jadakiss

I've always said the only two emcees I've never heard a weak or lackluster verse from are Black Thought and Andre 3000.

Thought is the most consistent emcee ever imo and you can argue the most underrated. He's always had impeccable lyrical ability and a good delivery. But he's been able to still craft quality verses and make good songs for so long because of his range and adaptability. His calling card was always his battle-type rhymes/aesthetically bragging. But he wasn't so limited that he couldn't make a Silent Treatment or a Episodes.

Starting with Game Theory though, he seamlessly transitioned from the lyrical braggadocio some to speaking about life experience, introspection, and macro world issues--politics, class struggle, science, etc.

And that's vital to be a long-lasting emcee. You have to be well-rounded and show growth as a person to still make provocative music. If you run out of subject matter, you get :flabbynsick:

Lemme start by saying I can respect this pov. Like your list isn't weak at all.

That said, let's start with KRS...he had some moments there after "I Got Next" when he just wasn't as sharp and I was like :why:
3I5ig9p.png
"Kristyles, "Keep it Right" just weren't as strong as his previous works OR his collab albums with Marl and Buckshot. PLUS, and I know this is a sore point but for real he should have DISMANTLED Nelly and he came off sounding "eh".

Now Nas, as I pointed out in a previous post, let's not forget that Nas fell off for a second. Like it or not, what Jay said has truth. He went from Top MC to :sadcam:
PZ73g3C.png
status around the Nastradamus time. That said, when you look at a full body of work...Nas is better so don't get it twisted. I'm talking about consistency though. And to that point, I have not heard a whole wack album from Thought. Hell I can't remember hearing a weak verse.

Jada don't have a classic album under his belt so unfortunately, he just aint in the same league. The rest of the people you mentioned have at LEAST one and I would argue more.

fair enough my nikka and great thread again.

ill explain where we differ

1) i dont think nas fell off. in retrospect nastradamus wasnt anything like any of jay-z's blemishes. and that tiny window was not enough for me to certify a fall off.

1999 he had two albums (I AM, Nastradamus)
2000 he had QB Finest (and all the mixtape joints)
2001 he had Stillmatic
i dont see when he fell off. maybe if we talkin 3 months :ohhh:

2)
KRS has some weaker albums after i got next but he is always consistent in the manner of lyricism and relevance. the album with marley marl is a classic IMO and even on his wackest albums (he has 2 at least) he has some dope tracks. that album with true-master was :wow:

i think what would put black thought below Kris is his minimal impact to the game.

3) i could create a classic Black Thought album using released tracks but it aint the same if i just grab 3 Kiss discs and skip thru em.

Black Thought needs a solo and he will never be a complete MC without one. we as fans deserve it too. Kiss has ripped a verse with everyone Thought has except he has no CD.

i still think thoughts lyrics/flow is superior but if someone said Kiss >> Black i wouldnt be mad
