It is not only about points. It is about hype that surrounds a game and a swarm of fans that unconditionally rate it so highly.

The most overrated games are games that don't provide the same entertainment value as stated by metacritic and numerous reviews by gamers who are prone to hype.

There are games that can objectively provide same/better entertainment value as MGS, have the same amount/less flaws than MGS, yet are not rated so highly and not considered classic.

I attribute this solely to marketing.
