So how is this related to “the South” which what I was quoting about
Like others have mentioned, “The South” consisted of about 15 states… so ofcourse there is more “violence” than one city.
What people are saying is that at least in LA, from LA’s own people alive and dead, nobody is hunting other black men for colors like that like Nipsey was saying above.
Nobody is letting “others” slide while hunting people that look like them.. not like that. “The South” also has military bases, National guards, and police with tactical gear… and much more of them no matter how “big” LA/Cali thinks it is to the rest of the country.
Texas is just as big and has just as many bases by itself. Black men aren’t hunting other black men for colors and imaginary street lines and building their entire culture/identity off it, while getting publicly punked by other races unless I am missing something from spending most of my life in this shyt. Most of the Souths issues comes from poverty and a history of slavery, which is why we are different negros and WILL fukk a white person up just as quick as black or any other race.
The Montgomery brawl being one example. Where is LA’s Montgomery brawl? Do yall put foot to ass on white folks like that out there?
The reason yall aren’t “banging on cacs” and other shyt is because of self-hatred being ingrained in the culture there. Whats the other reasons/excuses?
And this is no hate on Cali/LA. I loved Cali when I was stationed out there. Loved San Diego, have fam in LA, and honestly would go back if it wasn’t so expensive to live to me right now. I even still talk to females I’ve met out that way. Still love the Lakers (before Bron era) etc. Cats just need to start being honest of what shyt looks like to the rest of the planet
I'm not from California, so I wouldn't know, but I assume it has a lot to do with the foundation and culture of gangs in Cali being different than usual elsewhere, and because of that, it's quite complicated and complex.
For decades, gang culture has been deeply ingrained as a part of life in California, whereas in other parts of the country, like in the South, Northeast, etc, gangs exist, but they do not become a way of life in these areas; they're simply noise in the background.
There is a lot of history behind Black California/LA gangs being where they're at now. In the beginning, I don't believe it was like that, but over time, the founding ideology and purpose of these groups became distorted and lost their way.
Every gang has a story behind it, of how it came to be. For example, the Crips and Bloods have been around since the 60s; a lot of things transpired throughout that time between them that have led them here today as rivals.
For those of us not in the life of crime, it's a complex and complicated topic to understand, as you pointed out, “how could you kill your own, Black man?” But see that's because we're looking at it from a “civilian” perspective, but for them, their minds are indulged in gang terminology and street politics.
So, that whole “we're all Black, let's stick together” perspective doesn't resonate within their conscience because mentally speaking, they live in a different world than us, one in which being Black has nothing to do with it but rather from what “set” you claim, basically it's a gangland version of being colorblind, for example, a Black Crip member shoots and kills a Black Blood member, me, you, and others on here see as it as two Black men shooting and killing each other but the Crip doesn't interpret it from that angle; he didn't see his victim as another Black man but instead saw him as a Blood.
In other words, regarding race, they don't see color; when they're shooting and banging on each other, it has nothing to do with Blackness. With that said, unfortunately, this shyt is very complicated and complex for those of us not in the life to understand. For us to mentally “get them”, we would have to put ourselves in their shoes; we can't look at it from a civilian point of view because our perspective doesn't resonate with those who are too ingrained in gang life, we'd have to speak their language to understand them and their mentalities behind their actions.
It's kinda like in Boyz N The Hood when Furious was talking to Tre, Ricky, and some of the gang members who were there listening to him talk about Black economics, etc, he had to stoop himself down just to get through to a few of them to understand what he was saying.
