That wasn’t my point at all. Let me try it another way though. Where do you think black people in California were coming from during the Civil Rights era?

- Rumford Fair Housing Act (1963): Sponsored by Assemblyman William Byron Rumford, this landmark legislation made it illegal to refuse to sell or rent housing based on a person's race, color, religion, national origin, or ancestry.
- Unruh Civil Rights Act (1959): Like the FEPA, the Unruh Act was passed in 1959 and prohibited "all business establishments of every kind whatsoever" from discriminating based on race, color, religion, ancestry, or national origin.
