fukk, I came in here to say this

Jungle got real nikka quotes for days:laff:

Jungle talking about when the goon squad came looking for Ill Will
"
[told them a lie about where Will was at, but they didn't let up]...so I told a SUPER lie"
that line had everybody in the theater dying

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
I give it a 6.8/10 didnt really have any funny parts of go into depth,, still the best ones I've seen are tbr tribe called quest and 93 till infinity ,, those are way better
Didn't see 93 till but that Tribe shyt :wow:

This illmatic shyt was coo :ehh:

The context of what has transpired in Nas's life was enlightening--nothing super new but you get a glimpse of the emotion he and Jungle have around growing up in NY, their pops not being around, Ill Will being killed, and their moms passing

(God bless the dead but anyone feel that Nas is partially responsible for Will getting clapped after accounting what transpired before his death :patrice:)

The analysis, albeit cursory, of what was going on in NY culturally provides a social landscape for understanding the poetic and sonic landscape that's illmatic so that was kind of dope

I kind of wish they would have done a track by track exploration that would've delved deeper into the substance of the tracks, what inspired them, and why the production was selected

Overall, shyt just felt kind of disjointed and shallow at times but it does give you a general feel for why Nas and illmatic are important to hip-hop so it does an adequate job as a documentary--shyt was entertaining but could've been better
