position less basketball has created too many "jack of all trades, master of none" guys especially at the Forward and Center position. These guys dont know how to occupy a role and fight for rebounds, box out, swing the ball, and play defense. Bill Simmons mentioned how Embiid will be sought after next year for the olympics but will even make a difference as hes a ball stopper.

You guys keep mentioning 'weak star power' but i wager thats the problem: too many of these guys are #1 options and most #1 options (outside Bron, Curry, Durant) dont have game changing skill to compensate for weak fundamentals. the other countries play better team work and have the size/board men to throw at smaller, selfish USA players.

the A rank team would literally be a mix of the vets like you mentioned and then the young stars like Tatum/Brown/Ja/Zion/Fox

Ant might be the only nikka from this squad that MIGHT make that team and he'd be coming off the bench.

Imagine Dillon brooks putting up 40 with Jimmy Butler/the Jays/etc. taking turns locking him up cmon man the shyt wouldn't be competitive, Durant/Steph/Harden/Dame/Kyrie/AD/Bam/Bron

Your post has to be disingenuous you can go through each position and easily pick 2-3 players better than what this roster had, the center position would be the only struggle

Jrue wouldn't even be guaranteed a spot on that team whereas with this current squad he'd be starting and carrying them

Top 5 players from tournament were all from NBA. The problem is with American basketball school:

Too many scorers who can't co-exist with others. Not enough defense and certainly not enough hustling. If it's not in the stats, I ain't trying.

This is why most of the cats will have a problem in NBA playoffs even in their prime. Miami Heat out there out-hustling more talented teams.

No that's dumb thinking. The whole reason we had dream team's is because we couldn't beat the comp without it, and that was in the 80's/90's when we realized that.

That's not entirely true. Dream Team were the first team NBA players were allowed to play, so the top players said let's do it. '88 Team and prior was college guys, older but still college playing against older seasoned vets across the world. And they still got Bronze.
