I'm not knocking him. Of course he wanted to play. That's what players do. That's also the reason you have coaches and trainers and an entire org making decisions that players may not have the foresight or perspective or shyt, regard for their own health, to make. Players have missed Finals games before. I feel confident in saying it wasn't their choice.
Its game 7....of course it was his choice. But they both tried to go thru all the precautions and shyt to get him ready.

With KD, it was also his choice. And both his own doctors and the team doctors said he could go (lotta people ignore the part of his own doctors clearing him)

Good thing though is he's signed thru 2029 when he got his Supermax 2 years ago.

He got hurt in game 5. Only so many precautions when you having calf issues. If you let players choose, of course they are gonna play. That's why it's your job to protect them from themselves.

So you saying they shouldn't have played him the last 2 games?

Calfs and achilles injuries and any muscle strain such as hamstring are from over working and over exertion. Players nowadays are playing way more games from their early childhood with AAU. They get to the league and their practice/summer workouts are super intense. Teams need to switch strategies when it comes to practices especially so that guys can play hard when it matters and have the appropriate rest. There's no need to be running suicides or doing physical full drill workouts anymore. Watch and study film, practice your shooting and touch so you stay sharp. No full game scrimmage.
I think the pacers had 3 Achilles tears this year, and they run more than any other team. Might be something there also.

Can you imagine the heat the team would get from their fans if they DON'T play him Game 7, despite the risk, and they lose?

He took the risk of playing with quick-sudden movements.

He could have slowed it down like Mark Jackson at point. But he survived game 6 so he wasn’t going to limit the quick movements for game 7.

But Let us not be too concerned for multi millionaires beyond a successfully surgery without complications.

the first step in basketball is like being able to consistently throw 100 in baseball.

This shyt is gonna keep being a thing till we reach some sort of medical advancement with Achilles injuries the way we did with ACL injuries. I remember even 25 years ago ( :flabbynsick: ) ACL injuries meant the future of your career was kind of to be determined. Nowadays it’s like see you in 6 months, and sometimes sooner.
