Attention gets your paid.

Doesn’t matter if it’s positive attention or negative attention.

So what does he add?
Entertainment. Believe it or not, there are people who find him entertaining...

My dad is 60 and watches First Take religiously. When we talk sports, he often brings up something Stephen A has said, whether he agreez or disagrees. Hefinds Stephen A entertaining.....and apparently, a lot of other people do, too.
People hate the man but yet he stay getting millions. I don’t understand.

I stopped watching him when Kellerman stepped in because I was getting triggered by all that yelling. shyt felt like domestic violence to me. You got to turn that man off and make it easy for espn to get rid of him. There’s a reason he keeps getting paid.. you can help change that :yeshrug:
I stopped watching First Take in the late 2010s, somewhere around 2018, give or take a year. That's really when I stopped watching ESPN programming too, besides some NFL and college football games and programming here and there...

The truth is that every other network that offers any sport, has better programming and personalities, than ESPN...

You mentioning when Max left sounds about right, I wasn't watching it much before he left (it had already grown stale to me), but I definitely haven't watched it since he left, unless it was randomly on at a hotel or bar I was at...

Some of the people who complain about him, watch him faithfully, but don't doscount that there are millions of people apparently, we don't hear complaining, who don't really have a problem with him. They are the ones keeping him in high profile...
Don't just blame the dealer blame the fiend.

The reason we know the names Skip and SAS is because they got ratings. People complain about the damage they did in the media but people kept viewing it every year. Even now some of yall know what SAS says because you still watch him on a regular basis. ESPN cares about selling marketing not the quality of sport coverage.

This is like people who buy Madden complaining its a trash game every year. Of course it is. You keep buying the trash then wonder why they won't change it.

That tweet has zero likes. I 100% agree with the article but it's the tree falling in the woods. First Take is still bringing in ratings and SAS can still go viral with ease so he's not going anywhere.

Didn't he just get a raise?

First Take isn't the issue or the problem. It's that they keep insisting on trotting him on other NBA coverage where he adds nothing of value and his schtick gets overexposed.

He added nothing to the draft coverage this year and instead took away from it.

If the ratings are up with him on the show then yes he did:sas1:

People think their hate for SAS matters more than the bottom line. ESPN only cares about numbers so if SAS gets an increase in viewership they're going to put him on everything possible. They'll put that man on the coverage team for the Westminster Dog Show if there's an uptick in viewers.

It’s this simple.^

ESPN have had so many layoffs. If they thought he was a problem he’d be apart of them… he just keep getting paid though.

People will clown him for some shyt he did Monday, then share some cool or funny shyt about him on Tuesday, like his daughter popping out to act like him. It wouldn’t shock me if he’s the one behind that shyt l. Have good or funny news in the fukk once people stuffy taking negative about him,

Exactly.

A large group of people like SAS and watch him while the people who hate SAS can't ignore him. He wins in the end.

This forum is well aware of how much of a piece of shyt SAS is. Unfortunately many casuals are OK with his shenanigans. But some are waking up, hopefully he's gone off TV. Let him do his shytty podcasts on YouTube or something.

Just because you like him don’t mean everyone else does. If we watching NBA games on ESPN, we can’t turn elsewhwre since he all over their coverage.

Who said i liked him? Im indifferent. I mostly listen to NBA Radio on Sirius for my NBA coverage. Crazy thing is, the host of the highest rated show on that channel, Justin Termine, goes on hot take rants and shyts on callers too. So apparently this is exactly what people want.

The reason ESPN keeps pushing him out there more and more is because they have the numbers, and he is driving them. So whether you want to admit it or not, people are tuning in because of him.

Are you telling me that Stephen A is getting the numbers because everyone hates him so much they watch to spite him and ESPN?
