My point is Nash was a huge draw in Phoenix. He was the reason they were even getting televised games in the first place and they were willing to get rid of him to start the rebuilding process. So if he continues to struggle with these injuries and misses a ton of games over his last two years, you wont even be able to really use the money generation argument.
You're right. Just look at recent history. Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady Allen Iverson, Shaq and Garnett were hugely popular players, but at the tail end of their careers they were nowhere as popular and weren't considered draws anymore. Father time is undefeated.
