So basically if you want to trade in your old 3DS / XL toward a new one it'll cost $199 and because you have to give up your AC adapter with the trade in you have to buy that again as well. These motherfukkers have the audacity to make it sound like they're doing gamers a favor by not including one.
Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter," a Nintendo representative told Polygon. The spokesperson noted that the New 3DS XL is compatible with the same AC adapter used by all 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, DSi and DSi XL devices.

Of all the stuff and hobbies I have and follow video game companies have to treat their customers the shyttiest by far. They do it because gamers let them.

Didn't the 3DS XL also not have a AC adapter? Or maybe it was the DSi XL
They all came with it. Apparently in foreign countires they didn't so they dropped it here. Which would be ok if they let it use a Micro-USB cable. They elect to have that proprietary charger instead then remove it from the box.

iphones dont come with one either
My iPhone came with a lightning cable. I didn't look to see if it had the power brick too but the USB on the end of that cable is a universal standard. I can use any charger end out of the box that accepts USB.

The 3DS uses a proprietary charger and they don't give you the cable or the charger. You can't charge it out of the retail box at all unless you already have a charger or buy one. Picture the Christmas disasters next year. "Merry Christmas Tim here's your 3DS... whoops we can't charge it because it doesn't include a charger and everything is closed today. Sorry kid."

I have the original ambassador's pack of games on my 3DS which I plan to trade in for the new 3DS. Does anyone know how game transfers work? Will I be out of my digital games if I trade in my OG 3DS? I'm googling this right now but I was wondering if anyone has had experience transferring games from one system to the other.

It was only a matter of time. It comes with some juice so you can still play it out of the box.

charging cable is like 5 bucks. bought a replacement one for my 3dsxl. its really not a big deal
ugh i think it is. it's not the matter of cost, but the principle. you buy an item thinking it comes with all the necessities such as a ac charger which as been the case for decades. you shouldn't have to go out of your way to buy something that you know should come with your purchase. really stupid move and i hope nintendo fixes this shyt cuz im buying me a 3ds for majoras mask.
