Unless you have a great defense.

People trying to turn this into an XFL style overtime or something.
It's the better OT rules. :manny:

So is the XFL kick off. The NFL should adopt the XFL kick off for sure and think about adopting the XFL OT.

Ive called for OT change long before that game. It should be changed. Niether defense was gonna get a stop. I understand defense is part of the game but when an elite QB is in the zone they cant be stopped. So yea the game was ultimately decided on the coin flip.
It should be changed.

its a simple fix. Both teams get a possession. Who ever has more points after both teams have a possession wins. If its a tie THEN it becomes sudden death. So KC scores TD first. Then Bills would get the ball. If the Bills score a TD they can decide to go for 2 and win or extra point and try sudden death. Fair way to do it. Whats the downside of that?

Zero downside, it was a huge mistake for the league not to do this when they changed the rule in the first place. Makes for a better product too. But this is a league where they still have 60 year olds running onto the field with chains to eyespot first downs.:mjlol:

If you kick a field goal you get a chance if you score a touchdown you don't shyt is stupid just make it even.

I felt the same about the Chiefs when they lost to the Patriots.

they don’t need to change shyt

if you don’t wanna lose without getting the ball in overtime then build a defense that wont give up a TD on a game deciding drive in OT…or better yet,do enough to win the game in regulation

Nobody was stopping anybody at that point. When 2 eliite QBs are in the zone they not getting stopped. So before OT started everyone knew that it was gonna come down to a coin flip. Thats what I dont like. Theres no downside to letting both offenses getting the ball.

The downside is that it’s the same problem with the current set of rules: The winner of the coin toss gets the undeserved advantage of being able to win the game with an extra possession not afforded to the team that loss the coin toss. Since the coin toss is purely luck, it shouldn’t have an appreciable effect on who wins the game (individual circumstances notwithstanding).

The simple solution would be to have two possessions, and if it’s tied after two possessions, then repeat until one team is leading after an even amount of possessions. Similar to the college rules, except none of that gimmicky give the teams the ball at the 25 yard line BS.
(And really, by possession, I mean a chance at a possession, so failing to recover an onside kick or muffing a punt results in a forfeiture of your possession)

Shannon said these numbers yesterday.

Since the rule was instituted there has been 163 OT games and only 35 have been decided by a touchdown first possession in the game. That’s 21.5% so the notion that’s it’s decided on a coin flip is wrong!!!

there’s three phases of football. Play better defense, make a special teams play, and play better offense to keep it from going to OT The bills had the number defense across the board in passing and Pat put up 328 3 tds with a 124 passer rating.

Josh was playing against the 26th ranked pass defense, scorched them, and they still punted more than the chiefs.

and like he said if it was Tua or somebody else nobody would care right now
