you do know this was a season best time for the us right? even without 3 o fthe main 4 guys on the team (warriner, merritt and the guy who broke his leg yesterday)

McQuay is only 22 and has never been the anchor before, in every relay the experience guy is the anchor, why asafa powell if not injured would have anchored the last 100m, just like he did at beijing and in world championships.

just like how a flabby and sick jeremy warriner would have anchored the 400m if he was healthy enough to run

it can be given to both but usually its earned through experience, ala a slow carl lewis who didnt even make the us team 100m for Barcelona running the anchor leg, or asafa powell in beijing even though bolt was faster.

even in swimming, remember that relay race with phelps? a old man jason lezak swam anchor. however this olympics phelps swam the anchor in the 4x200

angelo taylor although old has 3 olympic gold medals, and has run the 400m under 44 seconds, he has run though 3 races (heat, semis, finals) for 400m hurdles and so he was probably drained he did his best, he only lost by a second.
