that's somewhat fair. You have to ask yourself where he'd go if he was in this year's draft.

The problem is that

1. the allure is gone for Derrick whereas we don't know what these guys can do yet.

2. They probably see what I see: a talented player that's playing behind somebody better so why give up a lot for a guy that people think has to get moved sooner or later?

At this point, they might as well hold onto him. They're not gonna get what they want, and I don't want Kahn now to trade him just to trade him, because that leads to an awful return. That's the kind of shyt that will get us Pau Gasol or a really low pick. Don't sell short on Derrick. All they can do now is let Derrick fail doing what he claimed he could do and that was play SF.

lol yea I see why. He does have talent, and is a combo forward. He did do a good job as a starter, especially since him and the rest of the rookie class didn't have no training camp and probably hardly any practices. but, from what I remembered seeing him play as a starter he averaged 11 points and 6 rebounds IIRC. He has talent, but he has to play off the ball and improve on that more though. Most of the rookies that are coming out the past couple of years don't know how to play without the ball. But, lets see what he does his sophmore season. But, Khans reasoning for trading him for the 2nd pick sounded funny though lol

How good is Thomas Robinson?

He's the truth..I could see 17/10 in his prime..Maybe more points if he works on his mid-range jumper.

Glad to see Ty end up in Chicago. In my opinion that's a damn good spot for him.

he still had trouble beating college players off the dribble and creating his own shot that worries me a great deal regardless of his combine numbers

barnes deserves to be a top 5 pick... i think he will be as good as beal and better than Robinson... I have him as #3 on my board

the carolina fans threw him under the bus because their team was slightly overrated... Marshal/strickland couldnt knock down jumpshots consistently... Zeller/Henson are soft... With Marshal out in the tourney you put all your effort to make sure Barnes doesnt beat you

OK it's time. Final mock. 1-10.

1. New Orleans Hornets- Anthony Davis, F, Kentucky #23

After a lost season in the aftermath of trading Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Hornets have their new franchise player in Anthony Davis. This is not a debatable selection at all, similar to Andrew Luck going to the Indianapolis Colts this year in the 2012 NFL Draft. He will sell tickets, jerseys, and best of all, hope for a team whose future is starting to look up.

2. Charlotte Bobcats- Thomas Robinson, F, Kansas #0

Charlotte was linked to several players after they missed out on the #1 pick, including Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Harrison Barnes. The Bobcats are still looking for a king’s ransom in a trade. Thomas Robinson is arguably the surest player left out of the bunch to contribute immediately and productively. He’s a little unpolished offensively, but he can be the Bobcats’ PF for the next decade.

3. Washington Wizards- Bradley Beal, G, Florida #23

With the trade that the Wizards made with the Hornets acquiring Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza, the Wizards find themselves with depth everywhere except for the guard spots. This is where Beal comes in. He didn’t wow people statistically during his freshman year at Florida, but most scouts are blown away by his shooting technique, so he may very well be a better pro than a student-athlete.

4. Cleveland Cavaliers- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, F, Kentucky #14

This is where the NBA is like any other job. Who you know can determine where you work. In this case, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s tight knit relationship with franchise player and former high school teammate Kyrie Irving may give him the edge over Irving’s good friend Harrison Barnes. MKG was one of the main components to the National Champion Kentucky Wildcats along with Anthony Davis. MKG always seemed to be in on a big play for the Wildcats and for a team looking to win more close games, he will not be too intimidated by the pressurized moment.

5. Sacramento Kings- Harrison Barnes, F, North Carolina #40

I have serious doubts as to whether GM Geoff Petrie keeps this pick. For one reason or another, Harrison Barnes’ agent along with most of the other potential top picks have been unwilling to work out for the Kings, leaving them to have to find suitable trade options for draft prospects later in the first round. If they keep the pick, they have to choose the best player available, and Barnes is one of the more NBA ready prospects. While Barnes was never the player in college he was hyped up to be, Barnes possesses the qualities a team wants in a sidekick. As long as his mid-range shooting touch remains sharp, he will get plenty of open looks. He’ll be critical for the team as it looks to develop a winning culture.

6. Portland Trail Blazers- Damian Lillard, G, Weber State #1

Damian Lillard has really done an excellent job solidifying himself as the #1 PG prospect of this draft. He has performed so well at the combine and individual workouts that even the Sacramento Kings, who are stacked with point guards, are considering him with the #5 pick. The Trail Blazers desperately need a center, but could also use a PG upgrade and would select Lillard for fear that he would not fall to them at #11. They’re right. Lillard likely would not slip past New Orleans at #10, so if Portland feels comfortable with other big men at #11, this is a justifiable pick.

7. Golden State Warriors- Andre Drummond, C, Connecticut #12

If Golden State needs to find a reason to hold on to their pick instead of shopping it for a veteran SF, Drummond potentially falling to them might be a great reason. On talent alone he arguably possesses the highest reward of any player in this draft including Anthony Davis. However, even his former UConn teammate Jeremy Lamb questioned his motor recently. Although the Warriors traded for Andrew Bogut this past trade deadline and could use a SF, they haven’t been impressed by the remaining prospects. It would be foolish to pass up a talent this intriguing.

8. Toronto Raptors- Dion Waiters, G, Syracuse #3

Dion Waiters in one bold move by his agent made himself the most talked about player in this draft. The 2012 Big East Sixth Man of the Year canceled all workouts as he received a mysterious draft promise. Some believe it’s Portland or Phoenix or Toronto, adding to the confusion. While Toronto might not have made the promise, their interest in him is undeniable as they have been scouting SG’s to put pressure on or even replace incumbent SG Demar DeRozan. With talk of the Raptors looking to sign free agent G Steve Nash, Waiters at worst can fill the role he excelled in at Syracuse.

9. Detroit Pistons- John Henson, F, North Carolina #31

With Detroit, I think it really is a two man race between Henson and Meyers Leonard. Henson doesn't move Greg Monroe to PF and also doesn't provide the athleticism they probably want, but he provides the shot blocking and rebounding they sorely need. The Pistons ranked 26th in rebounding and 28th overall in blocks per game this past season. After impressing Pistons brass at a big man workout this week, he just might get the nod over Leonard.

10. New Orleans Hornets- Austin Rivers, G, Duke #0

Austin Rivers is also another SG that, like Waiters, received a promise from a team in the lottery, with New Orleans being the team linked to him. Rivers didn’t set the college basketball world on fire at Duke (in fact, he’s part of the Duke team that lost to Lehigh in the first round of the NCAA Tournament). Teams are overlooking that in favor of his pedigree at Duke and his bloodline as he is the son of Celtics coach Doc Rivers. The Hornets have been kicking around the possibility of drafting a center like Meyers Leonard or Tyler

Legion Sports reporing Minny offered Derrick Williams to Golden State for #7 and they rejected it too.

stupid as hell... people were ready to declare evan turner a bust after one year look at him in the playoffs... Derek Williams is the 4th best talent in that class behind Irving/Knight/Rubio... I would pick him 5th or 6th this yeear right with Robinson

11. Portland Trail Blazers- Meyers Leonard, C, Illinois #12

If Damian Lillard is considered the biggest beneficiary of the 2012 NBA Draft Combine, Meyers Leonard is a close second. While his motor was in question at Illinois, he does possess very good athleticism for a big man, giving him the ability to play in almost any kind of offense. Portland desperately needs a center to pair up with LaMarcus Aldridge, and while I believe it is a risk to pass up Andre Drummond at #6, they probably feel comfortable enough to select Leonard here as the C of the future.

12. Houston Rockets- Jeremy Lamb, G, Connecticut #3

The Houston Rockets are the hardest team to predict simply because they might not even be picking for themselves. They’re looking to stockpile picks in an effort to land flighty C Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic. For the purpose of this mock, I’ll just assume they fail in their quest to land Dwight Howard. The Rockets manage to get a shooting guard who is extremely talented, but almost seems complacent to be what he is in terms of his drive. With three picks, they can take a chance on the former National Champion and have him eventually replace current SG Kevin Martin.

13. Phoenix Suns- Terrence Ross, G, Washington #31

This is a tough decision between he and Jeremy Lamb, but the edge goes to Ross for having better interviews, which goes a long way with some teams. Ross doesn’t have the best handles, but he possesses a seemingly rare ability to shoot well and defend, something you don’t see much out of shooting guards anymore. Ross’ agent has predicted early on that he’ll be selected in the 6-11 range. While he falls just outside of that range in this mock draft, Ross has done a good job of moving up the ranks himself.

14. Milwaukee Bucks- Tyler Zeller, F/C, North Carolina #44

The Bucks must feel snake bitten here with the 12th pick, which has not yielded a player better than Muggsy Bogues in the Lottery Era. To make matters worse, John Henson, who is the apple of their eye, might not be here when they pick, leading to rumors that they might have to trade up. The Bucks are currently saddled with several defensively sound yet overall unimpressive bigs. Tyler Zeller might not be the big star they hope to get to anchor the middle, but he’s good enough to sort out their clutter and consolidate their assets to fill other needs.

15. Philadelphia 76ers- Perry Jones III, F, Baylor #1

Perry Jones III has by far the biggest risk/reward of any player in the draft. He has the talent of Kevin Garnett, the production of Marvin Williams and the ability to frustrate fans and scouts the way Anthony Randolph has. GM’s are afraid to draft him and at the same time, afraid to pass him up. At 15, the Philadelphia 76ers can afford to take that risk because this far down in the draft, Perry Jones can easily be the biggest steal in the draft if he applies himself. Unfortunately, that remains to be seen.

16. Houston Rockets- Kendall Marshall, G, North Carolina #5

Since the season has ended, there has been major uncertainty at the PG spot in Houston. Starting PG Kyle Lowry has requested a trade, citing differences with head coach Kevin McHale and backup PG Goran Dragic will be a highly sought after free agent. Even if they keep Dragic and trade Lowry, they could use a backup PG as they could lack depth rather quickly at that position. Marshall was the glue that held the North Carolina Tar Heels together, and for a team in flux, they could use some stability.

17. Dallas Mavericks- Terrence Jones, F, Kentucky #3

The Dallas Mavericks have been very mum about what their draft plans are. For a team that just won the NBA Championship one year ago, there’s not much to be certain about aside from Dirk Nowitzki. Jason Kidd and Jason Terry are free agents, the team is making a strong push for free agent Deron Williams, and there’s not much depth on the team. The Mavericks can afford to pick the best player and go from there. Terrence Jones is a hard player to figure out because he is wildly talented but maddeningly inconsistent. Jones’ ability to guard 3’s and 4’s as well as score from anywhere on the court should impress Dallas enough to add him to their frontcourt.

18. Houston Rockets- Jared Sullinger, F, Ohio State #0

With Minnesota out of the picture, this is a mild surprise, especially if Houston keeps this pick. I couldn’t go through with this mock without selecting a big man for Kevin McHale to develop. Jared Sullinger’s stock has plummeted in recent weeks due to a medical red flag on his back. While I believe it will limit his upside, I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone believes it is. Prior to this, many viewed Sullinger as a poor man’s Elton Brand or Kevin Love, especially with the addition of an outside game. Conditioning is probably his biggest challenge going forward, but McHale would love to have a project PF that he can work with since he never got to fully develop Kevin Love.

19. Orlando Magic- Moe Harkless, F, St. John’s #4

Moe Harkless is a very talented player who can become the Paul George of this draft in terms of versatility, but he may have declared from St. John’s too early. Because of that, teams are a little scared off about how long it will take to develop him. The Orlando Magic may be entering a rebuilding phase once they inevitably trade Dwight Howard. The good news for Orlando is that Hedo Turkoglu only has one more guaranteed year on his contract, so Harkless might eventually receive the reps needed to develop his game at the NBA level. He’d be a major gem and source of hope for the team going forward.

20. Denver Nuggets- Royce White, F, Iowa State #30

While I feel the Nuggets lack that superstar teams need to advance further in the playoffs, the Nuggets have a versatile team with depth everywhere. Although they picked Kenneth Faried 22nd overall last season, the team could use a backup for him. Royce White is a statistical marvel, leading the Iowa State Cyclones last season in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Although his anxiety disorder is a well known fact by now, he seems to be getting it under control. The Nuggets could probably use a PG more, but they could always bring back Andre Miller.

My Pops Forever RIP
21. Boston Celtics- Fab Melo, C, Syracuse #51

The Celtics are badly in need of an infusion of youth. Luckily for them they have two first round picks to add some size and depth to a team seemingly in transition. Fab Melo may be a project, but he is a big body that can one day step in and be the starting C for the team as a shot blocking presence. If Kevin Garnett does not retire, Melo can soak up a lot of knowledge from the former Defensive Player of the Year.

22. Boston Celtics- Andrew Nicholson, F, St. Bonaventure #44

The St. Bonaventure’s star forward has really improved over the course of his college career. He has added a three point shot, a reliable jumper, and gotten tougher on the boards. The C’s could also opt to think far ahead and begin to draft an heir apparent for Paul Pierce, but the Celtics could also attempt to fill those holes in free agency or bring back Jeff Green. He could use a lot of time in the weight room to better condition himself for the rigors of the NBA, but Nicholson clearly has the skill set to be a good player in the NBA.

23. Atlanta Hawks- Marquis Teague, G, Kentucky #25

The Atlanta Hawks only have six players under contract heading into next season, so this pick needs to be especially good for the Hawks if they want to remain in contention in the Eastern Conference. Picking Jeff Teague’s little brother might seem redundant, but he’s the more defensive minded of the two brothers. With his defensive aptitude and the John Calipari stamp of approval (Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall, and Brandon Knight have that), it’s difficult to bet against him having a solid NBA career, even if it may take him a bit longer to get going.

24. Cleveland Cavaliers- Arnett Moultrie, C, Mississippi State #23

Although the Cavs drafted Tristan Thompson fourth overall last year, the Cavs could use depth at every position, including power forward. Moultrie has a suspect motor and is a woefully poor shot blocker given his size and wingspan, but he is a decent rebounder with a moldable offensive game that can complement Thompson’s defensive minded game. His 6’11’’ height also gives him the opportunity to give Anderson Varejao a breather at center.

25. Memphis Grizzlies- Tony Wroten, G, Washington #14

The Grizzlies might sell this pick as they don’t feel the want to add a rookie to the team. However, O.J. Mayo is a restricted free agent and they’ve been trying to trade him for two years now. Tony Wroten reminds many of Tyreke Evans in terms of build, aggressiveness, and unfortunately their jump shots. He needs major work on his form and range if he ever wants to be anything more than a liability on offense, but he can be a major mismatch for opponents on a nightly basis. His ability to play both guard spots will give head coach Lionel Hollins several lineups he can use on any given night.

26. Indiana Pacers- Draymond Green, F, Michigan State #23

The Pacers are only looking for depth here as they have a rock solid starting lineup. PF could become a position of need as David West is entering the last year of a two year contract. While Draymond Green is undersized, he flat out produced in the Big 10 last season, winning Player of the Year. While I don’t see Green becoming a huge star, he compares favorably with players such as Glen Davis and Brandon Bass.

27. Miami Heat- Jeff Taylor, F, Vanderbilt #44

The reigning NBA Champions can enjoy their title, but they can’t let their guard down. With forwards James Jones and Mike Miller both contemplating retirement, the Heat can fill a need that can replace their production as well as give them their own version of Thabo Sefolosha. Jeff Taylor at Vanderbilt developed a lethal jump shot in his senior year while maintaining his status as a lock down defender. With Taylor and LeBron James together on the court, I’m not sure anyone will be able to score on them.

28. Oklahoma City Thunder- Will Barton, G, Memphis #5

While the Thunder are a team built to dominate the Western Conference for the next five years, there will be several tough decisions GM Sam Presti must make. He’ll need to go back to his bread and butter to keep this team a championship contender, which is the draft. James Harden and Serge Ibaka are both eligible for contract extensions this summer, but with all the rumblings about looking to trade up for Bradley Beal, perhaps the Thunder are willing to look elsewhere to get a productive SG. Will Barton may be rail thin, but he is a can’t-miss prospect, making huge statistical improvements at the University of Memphis. He’s good enough to at least be insurance in case they do decide to part ways with Harden.

29. Chicago Bulls- Tyshawn Taylor, G, Kansas #15

With Derrick Rose out for at least a good chunk of next season, the Bulls’ backcourt is in tatters. On top of that, backup point guards C.J. Watson and John Lucas III are free agents as well as guard/forwards Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer. Somebody has to run the offense. Who better than a four year PG who helped lead the Kansas Jayhawks to the National Title Game? The Bulls are rumored to want to shake things up in Rose’s absence,

30. Golden State Warriors- Evan Fournier, G/F, France #13

Stephen Curry is the franchise player of the Warriors, but his constant ankle injuries are leaving the front office very concerned about his health. With an already young backcourt, they could opt to add talent and stash that player overseas. Unfortunately for them, this year’s Euro crop is very weak. Evan Fournier is the best of a weak bunch, but does possess a wide array of scoring moves and does have a flair for the dramatic. The Warriors could always decide to bring over the 2012 Euroleague Rising Player of the Year to play plenty of small ball lineups and he’s also capable of playing some small forward.

if Dumars picks another undersize player... jesus christ

6-9 looks pretty rough

a lot of players outside the top 10 will be better than 6-9

top 5 is really good all those picks make sense

My Pops Forever RIP
Round 2

31. Charlotte Bobcats- Quincy Miller, F, Baylor #5
This is a steep fall for a guy with lottery talent. The Bobcats get a gift as they can develop a potential star down the road for dirt cheap.

32. Washington Wizards- Tomas Satoransky, G, Czech Republic #13
The Wizards get to select the best overseas PG in this class either to stash away or to be John Wall’s backup.

33. Cleveland Cavaliers- John Jenkins, G, Vanderbilt #23
The Cavs get to add arguably the best shooter in the draft to get wide open shots fed to him by Kyrie Irving.

34. Cleveland Cavaliers- Furkam Aldemir, F, Turkey #14

The Cavs will likely trade out of this pick as they don’t want to add more rookies. If they can’t, they can stash away a promising SF while allowing him to develop over in Turkey.

35. Golden State Warriors- Kevin Jones, F, West Virginia #5
Supposedly he has a promise in the first round. His poor measurements cause him to fall, but his impressive workouts can convince the Warriors to add a backup to David Lee.

36. Sacramento Kings- Festus Ezeli, C, Vanderbilt #3
With Hassan Whiteside still a work in progress, the Kings add a big man with defensive prowess that can play right away.

37. Toronto Raptors- Jae Crowder, F, Marquette #32
The Raptors didn’t have too much at the G/F positions. Jae Crowder might not have a defined position, but he’s a jack of all trades kind of player that will have a major immediate impact.

38. Denver Nuggets- Doron Lamb, G, Kentucky #20
Although he’s not a pure PG, he can shoot lights out from the field be a frenetic change of pace backup to Ty Lawson.

39. Detroit Pistons- Miles Plumlee, C, Duke #21
A major workout warrior, Plumlee can parlay his growing stock into a rotation spot amongst the Pistons’ bigs.

40. Portland Trail Blazers- Darius Miller, F, Kentucky #1
A four year player under John Calipari, Miller can be an excellent glue guy for a team trying to get back into the playoffs.

41. Portland Trail Blazers- Kyle O’Quinn, F/C, Norfolk State #10
One of the most underrated players in the 2012 Draft Class, the Trail Blazers could sure use a center who has the potential to be one of the bigger draft steals in quite some time.

42. Milwaukee Bucks- Kevin Murphy, G, Tennessee Tech #55

If he played in a bigger conference, Kevin Murphy would be a first round lock. The Bucks could use his instant offense off the bench.

43. Atlanta Hawks- Drew Gordon, F, New Mexico #32

With trade rumors surrounding Josh Smith, the Hawks draft a PF that can get an opportunity to work his way into Larry Drew’s rotation.

44. Detroit Pistons- Jared Cunningham, G, Oregon State #1

With Ben Gordon traded to Charlotte, the Pistons could opt to select a guard with excellent shooting ability and amazing defensive skills that can only be strengthened with some tutelage from SF Tayshaun Prince.

45. Philadelphia 76ers- Orlando Johnson, G, UCSB #33
With Lou Williams’ future in Philadelphia in question, Philly could use a big time scorer to come off the bench in case Williams goes somewhere else.

46. New Orleans Hornets- Kris Joseph, F, Syracuse #32

Kris Joseph can step right in as a backup and provide scoring and rebounding for this rebuilding team.

47. Utah Jazz- Kim English, G, Missouri #24
While Utah might use this pick to move up in the draft, there’s nothing wrong with choosing a sharp shooting backup to Alec Burks.

48. New York Knicks- Mike Scott, F, Virginia #23
The Knicks have plenty of guard depth but not much else at PF. With Amar’e Stoudemire’s health always a cause for concern, the Knicks can add a forward with an improving face up game.

49. Orlando Magic- Scott Machado, G, Iona #3
Orlando takes a chance on a young combo guard who can earn some minutes on what could be a rebuilding situation.

50. Denver Nuggets- Kostas Papanikolaou, F, Greece #10
While there’s not much to stash in this year’s draft, the Nuggets can afford to draft a young talented SF who caught many a scout’s eye during the Euroleague Final Four..

51. Boston Celtics- Hollis Thompson, G, Georgetown #1
With rumors of Ray Allen’s departure growing, they can never replace Ray Allen’s shooting ability, but they can select a guard with a nice shooting touch that can develop under Doc Rivers’ tutelage.

52. Golden State Warriors- Tornike Shengelia, F, Turkey #20

This pick may also be up for sale. The Warriors can stash away the best Euro available, and in this case it is a young 6’9’’ big man who is still a couple of seasons away from making an impact.

53. Los Angeles Clippers- Bernard James, C, Florida State #5
Although he is 27 years old, Bernard James is arguably the best post defender in the NBA. He might not have a long career, but he can be a huge addition to a playoff contender, which is what the Clippers have become.

54. Philadelphia 76ers- Robbie Hummel, F, Purdue, #4
If Hummel could only stay healthy, he would be a lottery pick. He can still carve out a nice little career as a jump shooter off the bench who plays tough, reminiscent of fellow Purdue alumnus Brian Cardinal.

55. Dallas Mavericks- Darius Johnson-Odom, G, Marquette #2
Although he is a very undersized SG, Johnson-Odom offers the kind of instant offense that is somewhat reminiscent of Jason Terry. His 6’7’’ wingspan will also cause massive headaches for opposing teams on defense.

56. Toronto Raptors- Leon Radosevic, F, Croatia #14

Leon Radosevic is an athletic energy big man that need a lot more work before he come over to the NBA and help out a team like Toronto, who can hold on to his rights.

57. Brooklyn Nets- Henry Sims, C, Georgetown #30

The Nets want a higher pick than this in order to add to what they hope is a Deron Williams /Dwight Howard combination. With the 57th pick, it’s hard to ask for much, but if they can turn this into a backup C, they did a good job.

58. Minnesota Timberwolves- Quincy Acy, F, Baylor #4

Quincy Acy might not have much ability besides mastering the art of the put back dunk, but he is a high energy, high motor player reminiscent of Reggie Evans. With the Wolves’ depth in the frontcourt surprisingly thin, he can fit in as Kevin Love’s backup at PF.

59. San Antonio Spurs- Robert Sacre, C, Gonzaga #00

With rumors of DeJuan Blair growing increasingly unhappy with his role on the team, the Spurs draft a smart defender and post player to learn from one of the game’s all-time best in Tim Duncan.

60. Los Angeles Lakers- Tony Mitchell, F, North Texas #13
With the last pick of the draft, the Lakers take a chance on a talented combo forward that can be looked at as an option for some spot minutes if Jordan Hill finds a better offer from some other team.
