New reports are coming out that Kirby Smart is the new favorite to be our head coach because our AD doesn't want to wait around on Herman....
I'm conflicted, I like both but I think I like Herman more because I'd rather have an offensive minded coach more than defensive...
i think my thoughts mirror yours. i think we definitely need to interview both, but if its 50/50 then i guess pick one out of a hat. tanner seems extremely worried about falling behind in recruiting with a roster that is already lacking all sec talent. the other thing he might be worried about is waiting too long having someone else come in and scoop up his top choices and be left with scraps.
i was kinda hopeful if we picked smart that maybe mangus would stay on as offensive coordinator which should lock in mcilwain, but the offense has looked as bad as ever the past 2 weeks after some promising play the first 3 weeks after spurrier quit. whoever the new coach is basically going to be starting over from scratch on offense because cooper is leaving and noone coming back has done anything. the good news is the interior oline cant be any worse.
iono what herman prefers in a defensive coordinator, but watching hoke this year makes me wish spurrier had left ward in charge. team is way too soft up front and plays scared. i think we could transition to the 3-4, but we have got to get better safety play. the safety play the last 2 years aside from the 3 games brison williams played safety at the end of last year has been atrocious.
