Naw Frank Herron (c/o 2013) from Memphis was the last guy we got from that area. JaCoby's dad played football at Louisiana-Monroe and both sides of the family is from South Louisiana. Dude just wants to play for his "home squad". The vols wasn't in his top 5

UT never recruits well in Memphis. Butch has gotten better but they just don't like us in Memphis lol.

I got a podnuh at work now from the M. He said the same thing. Said yall too racist and hillbilly "ish" for Memphis nikkas to go there

New Orleans nikkas felt the same way about LSU until the 2000s. Thats why we didn't get Marshall Faulk, Ed Reed, and every other the star from the city back then

LSU Tigers get verbal commitment from Jacoby Stevens
No. 24 prospect Jacoby Stevens verbally commits to LSU

ESPN Junior 300 athlete Jacoby Stevens made a verbal commitment to the LSU Tigers on Wednesday afternoon.

A 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect from Murfreesboro (Tennessee) Oakland High School, Stevens is the third-ranked athlete and the 24th-ranked overall prospect in the country for next year.

He made the announcement via Twitter.

JaCoby Stevens– ‏@jacobystevens7

I Am Proud To Say That I Will Be Furthering My Education and My Career To LSU!!!! #GeauxTigers

4:40 PM - 23 Sep 2015

Stevens chose the Tigers over in-state Tennessee as well as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and other schools.

He is an ultra-athletic junior prospect who could play either side of the ball at the next level. As a sophomore, Stevens totaled 279 receiving yards on 19 receptions and added 50 tackles, including five for loss, on defense.

LSU is off to a great start with its 2017 class. Stevens becomes the second ESPN Junior 300 commitment for the Tigers, joining defensive tackle and ESPN No. 4 Tyler Shelvin.

Les Miles' team currently has 18 commits for 2016, including 12 ranked in the ESPN 300, and is second in ESPN's latest class rankings.

His family is from Louisiana so this isn't surprising. The positive for us is in state talent in 2017 is really good. There are several other highly regarded in state prospects. So losing this kid wouldn't be as bad as 2013, for example, when Jalen Ramsey (Tennessee kid) went to FSU. And Ramsey was the ONLY elite prospect in the state that year.

You must be a crakkka talking bout they don't like us in Memphis. Knoxville and UT have been too racist in the past for the black folks in Memphis to fukk wit. Growing up in Nashville, I heard too often about cacs having a problem with Memphis because of it's perception as a black city.

Butch is hopefully changing that. It aint Memphis that don't like UT. Its the white authority around Tennessee treating the city of Memphis like an outcast.
