Georgia lost their coach and was in transition and turmoil during a season that they underachieved...ended up with more 5 stars, and the same amount of 4s, and a significantly better class, with less total signings...

Georgia has 100x the in-state talent Tennessee does. The fact we outperformed them the last 2 years is a minor miracle.
Georgia, LSU, Florida, FSU, and USC. Those are programs that don't even need to try to land stellar recruiting classes.
Cac filled Tennessee doesn't have that advantage.

I just understand a top 5 class wasn't necessary this year considering 38 of 44 from our 2 deep are coming back and we were short on scholarships.
We're not Alabama yet where kids will come regardless of early playing time. Or LSU where great instate talent resides.
Tennessee is still a mediocre program right now. We need to win big in 2016 to be an elite recruiter year in year out regardless of available playing time.

Mike Farrell (who runs rivals) said Kongbo had as high a ceiling as Rashan Gary. He's just not as polished since he's an African kid who only started playing football as a hs senior in Canada.
Kid is an athletic freak. 6'6". 260 lbs. Runs a 4.69 40. There is a reason Alabama, FSU, USC, and Ole Miss desperately wanted him.
He might be the freakiest athlete in this class.

We actually need to be top 5 next year. We have an unusual high amount of elite in-state talent. 3-4 of the top 50 players in the 2017 class are from Tennessee (#1 ATH Jacoby Stevens, #2 ATH Maliek Gray, top WR Tee Higgins, elite OT Trey Smith) and something like 7-8 players in the top 150.
Just for comparison Tennessee had 0 players in the top 150 In 2016.

Plus the #1 player in Georgia 5* DB DeAngelo Gibbs is a heavy Tennessee lean. He's a cousin of Tennessee safety Nigel Warrior and nephew of Tennessee legend Dale Carter.
Anything less than a top 5 class in 2017 will be a major disappointment.
