How did we underachieve this year?

(1) At SEC media days, we were picked by the media to finish 2nd in the SEC East to Georgia. We ended up finishing 2nd in the SEC East to Florida.

(2) We ranked #25 in the preseason AP and Coaches Poll. We finished #22 and #23 respectively in the final AP and Coaches Poll.

(3) Vegas put the over/under on regular season wins for us last year at 7.5 wins. We finished with 8 regular season wins.


By every objective measure, the 2015 Vols met or exceeded expectations. Now they may not have met my outlandish expectations (though they came damn close), they did however meet the media and Vegas expectations.

Just cause I said natty or one of two media heads picked us to win the East doesn't mean that is what the expectations were.

The general expectations last year for Tennessee was not a national championship or even an SEC East title. We were expected to be a darkhorse contender for the East (as evidenced by most media heads picking us 2nd to Georgia) and a bottom of the rung top 25 team (as evidenced by our preseason #25 ranking).

Stop catching feelings cause you dont want to admit we met expectations for last year. While coming tantalizingly close to being SEC East champs and a top 10 team.
