Couldn't beat them out or Harbaugh just preferred certain QBs that fit his scheme? I remember reading insider reports that Shane was clearly the most talented QB on the roster a couple years ago. He just wasn't "Jim's guy"
If Jim adjusted the offense to fit Shane I think he could have succeeded.
