those teams had to do it in order to even the playing field when it comes to recruiting. texas/ou can just show kids the trophy room.
also UT has a bit of a land shortage on the campus, so they've been coordinating how to do football facility upgrades along with SEZ stadium project (they want to add suites to make DKR an enclosed bowl) and finding room for a new on-campus basketball arena. They finally sketched out a plan, now the funding and construction is about to start in the next few years. What Herman so far with the locker room, weight room, and football facility renovation is just a temporary thing until they build from scratch in the next 2-3 years.
