Why do we need playoff expansion when the #8 team can't even stay on the field with the #2. I know it's just one game, but I'm struggling to see how there would ever be 8+ actual contenders in a cfb season.

There’s been a few years where it’s been the case, but it’s probably closer to an anomaly than the norm. Like in 2014 where people were the most discontent, would’ve been cool. Last year where everyone between 3 and 8 were pretty close. Hell, it’d be a good decision this year. UGA is dominant, but everyone else has been close. #1 Bama looked worse than a out the top 10 Florida. Just cause the natty might still be a formality doesn’t mean the playoffs as a whole wouldn’t improve
