This is done to see if Jim Leonhard can be a good Head Coach ala Dave Arranda. He is going to leave Wisconsin with a regime change, unless we think he is ready for the job.

This is the only reason I can think of as to the timing. Leonhard must've been getting antsy and looking to make a move and Wisconsin didn't wanna lose him and they felt they plateaued with Chryst.

Still... Chryst generally kept a good team and had Wisconsin ranked repeatedly. Hope this doesn't turn into a Frank Solich/Bo Pelini situation for them. You never wanna fire a guy unless you're sure the guy you bring in is an upgrade
