Don't they have to almost immediately put in the money for the deferrals anyway? I don't think it's an issue and this looks more like Santander accepting a lesser deal than expected but still getting the number he wanted that makes it look better than it is. Referrals only feel like an issue cuz of Ohtani's contract and how much of that is deffered.

as for your argument, I lobbied for Vizquel for years off defense (until the allegations of child abuse and DV came out).

Had those allegations not dropped, he might have been a shoo-in next year cuz at his peak he as at 52%
