He has had legitimately an all time great career.
But his playoff struggles dampen his legacy.
And his injuries in his 30s have been nagging.

You know what’s funny? Clayton Kershaw is in his 18th season and still has a lower WAR than Mike Mussina…who also pitched 18 seasons.

Moose leads him in innings by 816.

he an easy hofer
But were talking prime kershaw
he is beyond washed now

and mike got like 18 complete seasons

about 100 more starts too

The standards for starting pitchers making the HOF is gonna have to change once Verlander, Kershaw, and Scherzer retire.

We're not gonna see guys winning 300 games anymore. The numbers across the board are all gonna decline as well with these pitchers pitching less and less innings as well.

What do you think? @Remote

I feel like the over analytics of baseball has a part to play in that

that and every pitcher is throwing heat early early on and there arm is shyt by the time theyre in the mid 20s

Kershaw's career ERA is 2.51.
Even if we all agree that ERA isn't the best pitching stat these days, 2.51 is ridiculous.

Context does have to be applied because it's not like Kershaw had this reputation for pitching complete games. The Dodgers have been notoriously conservative when it comes to their pitch and innings counts. Kershaw's career high was 236 innings in 2013. Maddux and Clemens each had 9 years with more than that.

They've been babying pitchers for a long time now. Yeah, guys are throwing harder too but they're doing that on EVERY pitch as well. That adds up. Gotta teach pitchers to mix speed and hit their target. Location matters more than velocity.

Jamie Moyer had a 25 year career and didn't throw high velocity. I know the game has changed but it's not a bad thing to pitch to contact and trust your defense.
One of my favorite clips is of Greg Maddux saying in an interview that he didn't believe in wasting a pitch on 0-2 counts.
He's like ....the hardest count to hit in is 0-2. So why would I waste a pitch? I want him to swing 0-2.

It was something like that. But it made sense. Obviously you don't groove one in there down the middle, but a lot of guys waste pitches or try to throw too hard. And they get themselves in trouble or get hurt.

Agree 100% with this. I always hated when pitchers wasted pitches. All you're doing is running up your pitch count and increasing your chance of making a mistake.

I went looking at stats ready to shyt on Jamie Moyer because I just thought he hung around so long because lefties are always needed, but from his age 33 season to his age 40 season he went
126-57 :whoo:

3.69 ERA :ehh:

the man was on the mound when his team won a lot more often than I remembered. What a legend.

He pitched in the majors at the age of 49 after having Tommy John surgery when he was 48!

rosenthal made a compelling case on why the pirates should consider trading skenes

Trash owner
Terrible gm(cherington sucks)
Missed on mad picks which will prolong the rebuild ,while wasting cost controlled years of skenes
Would get a franchise changing haul
Chandler can be the next #1
Jones #2 but out til mid ‘26
Skenes isn’t extending and they won’t be competing until he’s almost a fa

Sounds crazy but :jbhmm:
It's the sensible thing to do but their hoe ass owner will probably hold him hostage to eat off merch sales for at least three more years.
