Basketball fans are obsessed with the 90s as the peak era of the NBA. And they think that because it was Jordan’s heyday. But the league overall was mediocre.

The sport that may have truly peaked in the 1990s was baseball. From the Reds and Pete Rose winning the World Series, the rise of the Atlanta Braves and their pitchers, Cal Ripken’s streak, Cecil Fielder making the Tigers relevant with his power, Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr’s greatness, the Indians on the brink of ending their WS drought, the Yankees return to dominance, the Marlins winning a 7 game World Series not even 5 years after expansion, the 1998 HR chase between Sosa and McGwire, the Yankees 114 win season, and maybe 2000 isn’t part of the decade but the Subway Series with the Yankees and Mets.

Basketball’s 1990s resume just doesn’t compete with that. Even if MLB had a major black mark in 1994.

I forgot to mention the Blue Jays back to back.
