Someone explain how a salary cap is gonna make the Pirates more competitive?

There’s already revenue sharing and these fukks just pocket it anyway.

Theoretically it means that Skeins and Cruz should be cheaper to extend and takes away the main excuse to spend.

Realistically it means nothing without a floor

If they do a ceiling they gotta do a floor. Only thing that makes sense.
Bingo.

Theoretically, it should make games for big market team fans more affordable too... right?

Right? :mjpls:

I’m not against players getting paid.
But you got teams with 250, 300M payrolls.

Chicken tenders and fries are like $20.
Beers are like $14.

A family of four gotta be dropping $300 easily at the stadium.

And then these owners wanna ask for tax breaks and public funds the build their ballparks.

Jerseys that cost $6 to make in the Caribbean somewhere are selling for $150.

Everybody getting rich. The fans get fukked.
But we gotta get a work stoppage because the fukkin Pirates or Rays or Athletics owner can’t afford another yacht.

I remember when Arizona wanted to build a stadium for the Diamondbacks and they let locals vote on whether it can use public funds. The voters said, "No public funds." Later they got county supervisors to vote on it instead and it passed. One of the people who voted against the will of the people got shot.

At least they got a chip out of it.
