Carpenter has destroyed Kirby earlier in the series, it was the right decision to pull him. It was Not the manager’s fault that Speier threw a meatball down the middle only for carpenter to hit a Homer right after that.
It was a gamble that made sense at the time

In hindsight, They just should have walked Carpenter and went for the double play. The next 3 batters after Kerry carpenter were 0 in 6 tonight with 4 strikeouts.
