They got rid of that years ago. They are having many of the same problems that the dunk contest has in terms of keeping the interest up.

The way they do it now really takes away from the whole majestic nature of the event.

if they went back to the old style, they'd have to limit it to like 4 contestants max. Hitters will take 15 pitches before they swing at something they like and then the contest would end super late.
They're still tryna figure out how to make it look good on TV (live it probably looks awesome)
probably on the statcast edition on ESPN 2
It's so hard to follow the ball hit and which ball they are showing land. Without seeing the arc of the ball it just isnt a great viewership experience. To me at least, thats what this event should provide and it just feels like a weird video game.

best part of the contest is when all the Dominicans show their true colors and try to help the countryman win
The Dominicans rallying around their guys is always fun to see
