use the one that came with the system (i left my pulses at home.....) the one that came with it is still in the wrapper in the box in my basement.

Breh took me forever to get used to the shooting, I stuck with it usually go below 500 kd wise but some games I'll get hot
Sadly being average to passable at this has made me a beast on cod randomly
I'd suggest going into one of the smaller player count modes like TDM or a more objective based mode like Rush until you get a real feel on how to move around. In rush your a more focused on where your going since your either holding down a part of the map defending or your pushing forward trying to get through their defense. I'd suggest going with Assault first and then Engineer. Assault since even if you're not killing like that, you can keep your team healthy and alive as a medic. Don't try to be everywhere and do everything. If you got a decent team and play a role, you'll start improving.
Other than that, do what @Crakface is saying.

Actually Assault is where you should stay for now it's the best class for beginners because most importantly you can keep yourself alive after a skirmish with medpacks.
I know conquest is exciting cause of all the vehicles and mayhem but you gotta master infantry first. Me and you can do tdm I'll run assault too and we can keep each other alive. What gun are using for assault/carbine?

Not enough range good for close quarters though start unlocking the assault and carbine guns.
I see a lot of dudes rocking the Ak-12 which is what I believe to be the starting assault class gun it hits hard puts people down, me myself it had too much recoil for me. I started bodying with the Scar and the M416 at first which unlock after the Ak-12.

You gotta reach a certain point total in whatever class your using to unlock guns. Attachments to guns unlock by kills.

Quickest way to get kills and unlock all your shyt is the deathmatches team and squad. Play tdm I can't stress how important this is to unlocking plus theres nothing to do but kill no tanks fukking you up choppers peeling your cap back just you your team vs them dudes over there lol.
My advice to you put the shotgun down until you unlock some machine guns.
