Wrong. Here's the answer...

Yes, if you knife someone or get knifed from the front an option to counter will appear, pressing RS will counter it, but if the other player also presses RS after, they will 'counter the counter' albeit rare, it is possible, and if knifing a player from behind, they will be unable to counter, take this into account.
