Duh, they're not as drastic, but they have been made, and that's why you can't compare Blake to Byron without context. In order to remove the effects of those rule changes, the most logical thing to do is to compare how they performed relative to their peers. And when you do that they're pretty similar....except Blake turns the ball over waaaayyyy more than Bryon did.

But also, you can't pretend like Byron got less of a chance than Blake?

Byron was not a good QB, Blake is not a good QB.

But one did not get more chances than the other honestly, as you see now Bortles is already in danger of losing his job after 2 pre-season games.

Byron nor Gerrard got screwed by the Jags they had plenty of opportunity, and that was the original point being made, and it was wrong

Your comparing both players to the field, i`m comparing both players to eachother.

Also, Bortles was 2nd in the leage in TD passes, that's a reason for a franchise to believe maybe there's something there, especially when you drafted em 3rd overall.

But let's be reality here, he's in jeopardy of losing his job.

Just as i said in my post, that he would be fukked after this year if he didn't turn it around, he might not even make it out the pre-season

I just wanted to chime in really quick: As someone who's watched roughly 90% of his 46 starts...that stat doesn't tell the full story. A lot of those TDs came in garbage and/or comeback time, when the opponent's defense was a little more relaxed.

Proof: Pretty sure 5 of his TDs in his career have come in the first quarter. 5 of his 69 TDs...

Yeah, that's pretty bad, and i`m sure that stat is reflecting of that.

But think about it, the franchise before Coughlin basically was handcuffed to that guy. So there is a lot of trying to convince yourself you didn't blow the 3rd pick going on

I definitely agree. Especially after going thru the same thing with Gabbert. I think it might be a pride issue, and it definitely makes Caldwell look bad (again).

I don't think Marrone and Coughlin are gonna mess around and give Blake/Chad more than a quarter of the season, though. Too much talent to be wasted because of sub par QB play

Even though he threw 35 TDs he still had 18 ints and 58 percent passing with excellent receivers

Any qb would have put up those same numbers

It's been three years and a new regime

Leftwich was a starter for three years and went to a playoff game

The Jaguars as well were a rushing team back then

NFL dynamics have changed
