Plans are well underway for big-time boxing to return to the famed Smart Araneta Coliseum when ABC 5 teams up with the Araneta and well-known promoter Sammy Gello-ani to stage the third title defense of IBF light flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero on Sunday, July 21.
Negotiations have been going on for some time between the new head of ABC 5 Sports, Chot Reyes, promoter Gello-ani and the Araneta management in the absence of coliseum owner George “Nene” Araneta who is abroad and is expected to return next week.
ABC 5 has had a fruitful relationship with Gello-ani and Casimero having telecast his championship victory against Luis Lazarte in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 10, 2012 when Casimero won the title with a 10th round TKO after dropping the Argentine once in the sixth round, twice in the ninth and once in the tenth. Casimero himself was dropped once in round five.
The predominantly pro-Lazarte crowd of truckers rioted when the decision was announced, hurled chairs and other debris into the ring, hitting Casimero, Gello-ani and his corner-men in an ugly display of hooliganism.
Casimero successfully defended his title with a close twelve round split decision victory over Mexico’s Pedro Guevara in Sinaloa, Mexico on August 4, 2012 which was also telecast by ABC 5 before scoring a lopsided unanimous twelve round decision over highly-fancied Luis Alberto Rios in Panama City last March 16.
Gello-ani told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard that Casimero’s opponent in his voluntary defense will be No. 12 ranked 23 year old Mauricio Fuentes of Colombia who has a record of 16 wins with 10 knockouts and 2 losses while Casimero has a record of 18-2 with 10 knockouts.
Fuentes is coming off a 5th round TKO of Gustavo Cortes last March 22.
Casimero is already in training at the Omega Gym in Cebu City
Gello-ani told the Standard he is finalizing a blockbuster undercard that would feature the come-backing former world champion Marvin Sonsona and mandatory flyweight contender Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar among others.

That's been the plan
Schaeffer said its 90% of getting done....Matthysse said Haymon promised him the fight N that's why he signed up wit him
It was first rumored to be on sept 7th....the more they drag to announce it makes me believe the rumors of it being on Floyd's undercard could be true![]()

Former multi-division champion Fernando Montiel (49-4-2, 37 KOs) will face Filipino Jaderes Padua (8-2-1, 5KOs) in a stay-busy fight on June 22 in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Padua was stopped in six rounds in last fight, which took place in April against former champion Tomas Rojas.
Montiel is trying to slowly build himself back up after two big defeats in 2011 to Nonito Donaire and Victor Terrazas. Montiel has won three in a row, beating Giovanni Caro, Arturo Reyes and Angky Angkotta.

The elite men (19 years old - 40 years old) will box without headgear.
You may have up to 15 professional bouts and still compete in the Olympics.
10 oz gloves up to 152 lbs. -- 12 oz. gloves over that weight.
The new scoring system is a 10 point must system.
*There are 5 judges sitting around the ring. 3 judges are randomly chosen to go "live" and their cards score the bout. The judges won't know if they are live.
*10-9 (close round) *10-8 (clear winner in the round) *10-7 (the boxer is outclassed) *10-6 (this should never happen)
*The judges must chose a winner. There are no ties. In the event of a tie b/c of points off, each judge will have already selected a bout winner at the bottom of their scorecard. The bout winner is selected based on style, defense, generalship, etc.
*The difference b/w amateur and pro scoring is that a knockdown does not count for anything. You should still judge the round as a whole.

you can claim Roidquez was clean all you want, but you know the truth... All them pee pee coctails weren't enough, he needed an extra boost.. Pac learned his lesson though.. He knows that Mexicans drink their own piss and shouldn't be trusted.. not mad at all ... all the greats have tasted the canvas in their careers, now Pac is no different.. Now lets witness the bounce back

yes he did. and that lesson was....take the damn test. either we both can be clean or we both have a chance of being dirty. cant claim Marquez was cheating because you dont like to get tested your damn self. if I were Marquez...and I were suspicious of this guy cheating...why would I walk into a fight having the notion that its going to be an unfair advantage? IF Marquez was cheating....he simply used the loophole that he KNEW Manny would allow.![]()

According to scribe Steve Lillis, the British clash between heavyweight rivals David Haye (26-2, 24KOs) and Tyson Fury (21-0, 15KOs) is a £10 million blockbuster which is being targeted for a late September or early October date in Macnhester or London. Each fighter, according to British sources, is going to receive around £5 million. Talks have apparently been going on for several weeks and there could be an announcement in the next few days.
This past Saturday Fury officially withdrew from a planned IBF final eliminator against Kubrat Pulev. The winner of that eliminator would have been first in line to face the winner of the October match between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin. Haye was going to fight Manuel Charr this month but withdrew with a hand injury.
