when did maidan say this? :hmm:

Marcos Maidana on the Floyd Mayweather fight and discussions about fighting Manny Pacquiao:

Floyd is gonna pick Maidana apart if they fight again. Maidana vs Pacquiao is a MUCH better fight than Algieri vs Pacquiao.

I'd like to see them fight. Without Ariza Shakes though, I now change my prediction and think Pacquiao will decision him.

when did maidan say this? :hmm:

He said it in his interview up above.....post #59872

Did you feel that in the first half you surprised him?

I felt I had his respect, maybe he was then a little scared. And then he began to run; went on his bike. Stood there ... but he's a good fighter. He has a very good defense, and I could not catch up. He had said in previous conference that he was going to fight me. But when he stood still, he felt a punch and then he was gone.

But in that first half, you were able to fight your fight.

Yes, I thought it would be more difficult. He stayed on the ropes. He stood there and I was able to hit him, but when he felt it he ran. The guy is a great fighter. He does things very precise

hes right :jawalrus:
These one dimensional fighters think if you don't stand toe to toe you are running. Skilled boxers know there are several ways to win a fight. We've seen Floyd fight off the ropes (Cotto, Maidana), walk down in the center of the ring (Canelo), stand in the center of the ring (Guerrero), or use movement (all his fights).
Guys with Tecmo Bowl repertoire's making excuses when their opponent is playing Madden.

hes right :jawalrus:

He is:obama:

Floyd cant bang with Maidana. He was about to get that Broner treatment if he kept doing it (standing in front of him thinking he can take his punches). Luckily for Floyd and his stans, Floyd went into HIS style and won the 2nd half of the fight 5 rounds to 1. I had the first 6 rounds 4-2 in favor of Maidana.

Pretty Boy Floyd was a master of the sweet science. He combined his great defense with great offense (unleashing combinations and flurries with pinpoint accuracy, as well as laser beam straight rights). Nowadays, he's Money Mayweather and almost all defense/movement and low punching output.

I cant remember the last time he threw a meaningful combination or flurry like PBF used to do:to:

He's still elite, because he's the 2nd greatest defensive fighter of this generation behind Sweet Pea, and still has amazing accuracy on his punches......but I miss the young, Roger Mayweather trained PBF:sadcam:

his hands are gary russell status now breh :to:

I dont think Floyd ever lied about his hands hurting to avoid being matched with tougher competition though:youngsabo:

But WHY did his hands have to be brittle?:to:

I swear if he still had his hands, he would've been able to do my boy Canelo exactly like he did Gatti....I know he would:sadcam:

That's why, no matter how much "hate" yall think I throw at Floyd, it's based upon the fact that I remember and loved PBF too much. There may one day be another Money Mayweather, but I dont see any PBF's on the horizon. Closest is Guillermo Rigondeaux, but he's 3'' too short (n/h) and his arms are 6'' (double n/h) too short as well.

I agree. Mayweather still boxes at a GOAT level, but his offense lately has been effective, yet disappointing knowing what he is capable of. He rarely throws multi-punch combos and instead pot shots and leans into his opponent to smother their offense. It is effective because he continues to land clean punches and his opponents don't...but guys with great speed and skill throwing multi punch combo's is a thing of beauty to watch...and there just isn't any guys really doing that right now.
