The deal calls for a minimum of four fights, although the Geale bout was the first one under the contract. The agreement also has provisions for overseas fights and potential pay-per-view fights, meaning there could be far more than four bouts. The bottom line is that all of Golovkin’s fights, wherever they may take place, will be on HBO or HBO PPV for the foreseeable future.
Since making his HBO debut in September 2012, Golovkin’s star has steadily risen, as have his viewership figures, which are among the network’s best for boxing. Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) has fought five of his last seven fights on HBO, with his two overseas fights in Monaco not being on the network, which took some criticism for not showing his February fight with Osumanu Adama. That won’t happen again under this agreement.

:blessed:
The problem is that unfortunately at some point the competition that appears only on HBO is going to run short. What happens then.

GGG and the #shookboys get to :whoa:'ng whenever #SOGGang rides up on the block and starts using money to justify why GGG wont get in the ring to shoot a fair one with SOG, even though they're already record for saying they will fight anyone from 154-168:heh:

You right but put yourself in Cotto's shoes...

Would you honestly give a fukk abut any of that if you were him?

Why would you fight that beast and miss out on multiple big pay days? To impress keyboard warriors who call you a paper champ?

right. Cotto dont need GGG. he just doesnt. its the other way around if anything.

Abel Sanchez, the trainer for WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs), says a fight between Golovkin and WBA 168 pound champ Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KOs) is a realistic option in the future, but only if Ward understands who the top guy is in this fight. In other words, who the A-side money guy is and that’s obviously Golovkin, in Sanchez’s eyes.
Sanchez said “We are ready to fight Andre Ward, but only if he will understand that Gennady is a bigger star, bigger draw.”

Having empty arena matches in msg makes you a bigger star. :sas1: We don't know about those empty arena matches in Oakland though :sas2:

Why won't #Shookboys fight Ward? "We don't need him we are the draws blah blah blah"

I don't want to hear nikkas complaining about Cotto not fighting GGG then :manny:

He don't need ya'll :sas1:

He is the draw :sas1:

He can get more lucrative fights elsewhere :sas1:

Team Cotto: Golovkin Not Yet in Majors, Fight Premature

Gaby Peñagarícano, the legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO's), plans to sit down with his client in the month of August to discuss his next opponent for a planned return in December.

Peñagarícano also responded to some recent comments from Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBO/WBA champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KO's).

In a recent interview on BoxingScene.com, Sanchez called for a fight between Golovkin and Cotto. He says Cotto should fight a real middleweight opponent or vacant his title and return to 154-pounds.

Peñagarícano is not surprised by Team Golovkin's desire to face Cotto, but he doesn't believe the boxer from Khazakstan has built his name to a level where it makes a potential fight with Cotto a lucrative pay-per-view success.

"That was very funny from my dear friend Abel. He is my personal friend," Gaby stated. "Golovkin is a fighter who has not yet reached the majors in boxing. He is a fighter who has not even participated in a pay-per-view in his career. So it's a little premature for me to talk about Golovkin, but I'm not surprised by the statements of Abel. Still, we have not sat down with Miguel to discuss the upcoming fight. It is too early for us [to talk about his next fight] and we should be getting together in August."

"Miguel is in the driver's seat and once we know what he want to do, and the weight, and who Miguel wants to fight - then any fighter who wants to fight with him will have to stay at that weight or not fight. I do not think Golovkin is in a position to be dictating anything. But once we sit down to talk, we will know what he wants to do."

We did over 10k for the Kessler fight and 8,500k for the Dawson fight with both held in Oakland:sas1:

Golovkin just set his highest attendance mark with 8,572 at MSG against Geale:sas2:

Hell, SOG did 8100 against Allan Green......but GGG is a bigger draw though:mjpls:
