If u fellas watch the Martinez vs Pavlik fight, you'd see Pavlik did a much better job of attempting to cut the ring off. He actually looked smart at times and took control of the fight until round 9 when Sergio bloodied him up.

There was nothing that Pavlik did that Chavez is not capable of doing. The problem is he needs to get his pops training him instead of that dead beat trainer Fred Roach. And yes, punching without having your feet set does take away from your power but those are the types of things your supposed to train for, so it feels more comfortable moving and punching. Chavez was poorly prepared for the fight, showed no knowledge of how to cut the ring off. At least Pavlik at times got his lead foot outside of Martinez's, Chavez i dont think at any point had his foot placed outside of Sergio's. He just chased Martinez, played right into his hands and was a sitting duck for Sergio's punches until the 11th round where he finally applied pressure in a more strategic way.
This.....

Much safer fight than power punching Katsidis IMO...

I don't know why people are try to rush Ricky in there with top competition, let him fight 3 or 4 bums to let him get his legs back, and work put the kinks of rust

There's only one Ricky Hattttton!!!!

I miss him:to:

corley is actually a dangerous guy/journeyman/spoiler though plus an ex champ...if you beat him you can be somebody if you don't well :manny:

Yup, I like Corley even though he's just short of that elite level, his job is to expose these frauds and hype jobs, never no easy match

I guess Martinez got hit by Lucky punches 4 times in his last 7 matches, and by Antonio Margarito too:snoop:

Exactly
and what kills me is when nikkas hate when you bring up the Margarito fight because it's so old but got damn...Martinez still fights the same way and makes the same mistakes he did back then right now. He still fights with his hands down. He still backs up straight sometimes. He still tries to exchange punches when it's not necessary. He still expends a lot of energy, etc...

I'll just keep it real and come out and say it. Martinez is a very good fighter but he's probably the most beatable elite fighter on a top 10 p4p list.

If you can step in and jab constantly while applying pressure you basically can be with competitive with Sergio and put hands on him. I can't even think of any other elite fighter where you can apply such a basic strategy and be successful.

Exactly why I think Martinez is tailor made for a fighter like Cotto. Agrees 100% with what you said, not only that when he is crowded he suseptible to talking punishment becuase he only throws straight shots. He's seriously waiting to get exposed, he better be thankful he has a promoter that loves and protect him by any means neccessary

:childplease:

I didn't say he was bigger than Chavez, you the making excuses for why he got nearly ko'ed and saved by bell, and getting hit with 46% of shots nearly ko'ed is not skill it's luck, luck that he was facing a dude who didnt give one fukk til the end

Martinez aint no little MW that shyt irks me when his fans try to say that bullshyt, like I said Martinez is good but not elite, he is smoke, mirrors and fraud written all over him, let me call out small ww but refuse to fight at your natrual weight and fight Ward

lou dibella ain't stupid. he didn't want people clamoring for a ward/martinez fight because ward is a threat. thats why martinez didn't step on the scale.

If Martinez were 27 I'd hate more but you're 37, everyone is itching to get you out of there for a more marketable guy, you gotta take the fights that make sense. And you know that even if you get robbed blind they aren't gonna give you a rematch either.

Same thing happened with Baldomir, and he stayed in there long enough to get two million-dollar paydays + a few more in the six-figure range. Can't hate on him for that.

Cinderella Man Baldomir
Gatti
Hatton
Cotto at 147

why does it seem so boring now

who would you guys rather see Broner fight Ricky Burns, DeMarco or Robert Guerrero?

Chop Chop is a dangerous journeyman who can beat a lot of guys and will not make you look good at all, he is kind of like Carlos Molina in a lot of ways

I am hearing Gamboa is fighting on the undercard of PacMan/Marquez with golden boy looking to counter program two weeks in a row the Pac man fight with Canelo and the Tim Bradley vs. Ruslan or Peterson fight with Whitaker on the 12/15

broner vs demarco, PERIOD!

it wouldnt surprise me at all if gamboa went back to top rank. he fukked up big time by backing out of that rios fight, and listening to what people was saying in his ear. he hasn't been in the ring for a year now :smh: about the bradley fight, steve kim reported that berto might be the opponent for bradley since his next fight will be in miami.

I'd rather see Broner and Guerrero go at it since both dudes already started jawing at each other, although a fight with Demarco is good too. I haven't seen enough of Burns for me to really care about who he fights.

As for Chop Chop he used to be a dangerous spoiler but if you can't get past him now at this stage in his career then you probably weren't that great to begin with.
