Is it safe to say Latin America has just about taken over the sport of boxing?

No hate, their fights are almost always entertaining. But I'm starting notice less and less black fighters that are in contention, now more then ever.
welcome to the year 2000

I think the fans that want the rematch thought that Martinez was very tired at the end of the 12th, had Chavez got to him a few rounds earlier he coulda knocked Sergio out. But i think we can all agree theres no way Chavez could win on points

the only reason Chavez got to him at all though, is because Sergio put himself in that position purposely in the 12th.

Chavez didn't catch him because Sergio was tired. Sergio was fine. He just decided to trade shots & got caught up with a dude who's 20 lbs. heavier & with power.

Chavez had his chances when Sergio put himself on the ropes a ton of times throughout & when Sergio met him head-to-head leaning over. And even then, Sergio was given him a lil' tappy wappy.

Chavez was swinging and missing throughout, trying to catch up to Sergio, being outboxed like the raw fool he is.

tappy wappy :dead:

But u must not had seen Sergio in his corner before the 12th round, he was very tired.

Chavez was trying to set his feet before he threw punches, he needed to just punch even if that meant he'd be even more open to counter opportunities. If he had Martinez tired a few rounds earlier, he coulda won.

Even with that being said im not sure how much credit i would even give Chavez for knocking out Martinez considering hes a cruiserweight

I'm personally not a fan of a rematch. It was a blow out as far as I'm concerned and rematches should be reserved for controversial bouts.

On that note, just read this on east side boxing.
Arum excited about a Chavez Jr-Martinez rematch, sees it doing big business
Published September 17, 2012 | Leave a comment

By Michael Collins: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum sees nothing but dollar signs in proposed rematch between former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) and Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) for early next year at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas. The pay per view numbers haven’t yet been released for last Saturday’s Chavez Jr-Martinez PPV fight but the word is that the fight did better than what the promoters Arum and Lou Dibella had hoped for. Continue reading →

They just see the dollar signs due to this bout but why not take the approach of setting up a new fight with even a bigger name? I would say Canelo vs Sergio and then the winner goes to fight Floyd. I know Arum wants the rematch because the fight is the most profitable after a loss for his boy Chavez but DiBella should take his business elsewhere. I really don't want to see a trilogy here in the vein of pac vs JMM. It wasn't even as close as those two matches. Chavez is not on Sergio's level and his only advantage is his ability to put on pounds after weigh in and come in as a LHW against smaller guys. That doesn't take skill as he just lucked out in genetics. He doesn't deserve the rematch imo.

I was SMH when they showed highlights of his fight against Andy Lee which is promoted as the pinnacle of this dude's career. That ring was ridiculously small lol...

I agree martinez made himself available in the 12th. However I seen openings all night. Especially on the ropes. The mistake he makes that lead to him getting hurt,IS MADE VERY OFTEN.

Yeah Martinez made that mistake too many times for my liking. Every time he was getting near those ropes " I was like get the fukk away from the ropes son!". However, to Martinez credit, I think he saw that danger in being on the ropes against Chavez because as many times he was on the ropes, he made a very quick adjustment by side-stepping and even a few times pushing chavez to the side so he can get off the ropes. Dude came in there with a plan to play an outside game and executed it pretty well though there were a few times where he was head to head with dude which is where I think Chavez should of taken advantage but I think he was traumatized at that point :heh:

Finally watched the Alvarez vs Lopez fight

Officially a fan of Canelo, I love his style. Dem body shots :gladbron:

Lopez needs some respect tho. you could tell he didn't want to be there mentally after the second knockdown but he his heart wouldn't let him. If Victor Ortiz was in that same position it wouldve ended in the 3rd round.

whenever i watch canelo fight i cant get over the fact that he has the most blatant hgh skull in all of sports. chavez has a very blatant hgh skull too but canelo's shyt is on a different level
