Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, was not yet able to say whether this report is true, as he would not speak to the matter until all of the results from the Sept. 15 cards in Las Vegas are back.

“I cannot confirm or deny anyone until I get all the results,” Kizer told BoxingScene.com via email. “Hopefully I will have all of them by Friday afternoon.”

No Official Confirmation Yet of Chavez Jr. Test Report - Boxing News

Where there's smoke, there's fire. I think the report is true and he'll be suspended

Top Rank has confirmed it now
Top Rank Confirm Chavez Jr. Tests Positive For Marijuana - Boxing News

This is the second time he's failed the drug screen in Nevada

This marks the second time that Chavez tested positive for a banned substance in Nevada. In 2009, he tested positive for Furosemide, a diuretic, after his win over Troy Rowland. The official result was changed to a no-decision. Chavez was fined $10,000 and suspended for seven months. He faces similar punishment with the latest incident.

Different substance, but NSAC is pretty stringent. I'd be shocked if this kid wasn't suspended for a year.

not that i care much about it...but how much of a factor is it that Chavez's fight was a PPV? :ld:

They were both on free tv in Mexico, I think.

Canelo was on a bigger network though. Still, Canelo was fighting a totally over matched opponent while Chavez was fighting one of the best in the world. That should've been enough to swing ratings in Chavez favor but I guess not.
