Santa Cruz: I'm Coming To Hurt Frampton, I Want To Avoid Judges

Leo Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 18KOs) admits that he wasn't fully focused when he entered the ring with Carl Frampton (23-0, 14KOs) back in July at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.



Frampton walked away with a twelve round majority decision and Santa Cruz's WBA featherweight world title. It was the first career defeat of Santa Cruz's career.

After the fight, Santa Cruz exercised his contractual clause for an immediate rematch. The second fight is scheduled for January 28 the MGM Grand Garden Arena of Las Vegas.

Leading up to the first fight, Santa Cruz's father and trainer, Jose Santa Cruz, was battling cancer and as a result he wasn't fully present during the training camp.

"The difference now is that I'm more motivated, with no worries, no obstacles. For the first one I was thinking about my dad having cancer. I was not very focused, I was focused on my dad's recovery," said Santa Cruz to ESPN Deportes.

"Frampton is going to face the real Leo Santa Cruz. In that fight, I didn't come in as ready as I've been for past fights. I will have the opportunity to prepare very well, it will be my victory now. Frampton thinks that I came into that fight at hundred percent, that I showed him the best that I have."

Santa Cruz is not looking for another decision this time. He wants to close out the fight with a knockout.

"We do not want to leave the responsibility of the outcome to the judges. We are going to try to prepare very well. I will try to hurt him, I will work more to the body as I should, we will go to the body and look for that blow that hurts. If I catch him well with a punch he will go down," Santa Cruz predicted.

I believe most boxers are not afraid. think about it, u get in the ring daily to risk ur life...literally. u can literally get killed with one shot timed at the right location on your body!

I think diva shyt, money, politics, media, promoters, managers, strategy from camps/trainers hold up a lot of shyt in boxing and it gets in the way of fights.

but 20-30% boxers scary? nope don't believe it. if some are its very very very small scale/percentage imo. and even those dudes are braver than us cause you can still get killed accidentally from a culmination of blows overtime.

Those are the facts that everyone in the media, industry, and GGG's team seem to agree on. Ward is the only one who postures any differently.

But you could tell this fight was never going to happen from either side. Now it is past and most likely never happen and I think m osteoporosis are over the idea of this fight with them 2 weight classes apart.

Both parties need to shut the fukk up and keep each others names out there mouths. It is done, who cares.

Golovkins promoter is the one who said it of course you believe it breh. You buy into their duck tales all the time. Why should Ward shut the fukk up? Triple g was being a hoe after he called out Ward then retreated, why Ward went up a division and beat the boogeyman there. You need to look at things without the triple g glasses on breh.

I just find it funny that people so easily call GGG a liar, but don't want to call out Ward. Ward been a prima dona who fabricates his own stories and is a known storyteller to me.

Being honest I don't think either side actively tried to make the fight, so no one should be blaming the other side. Both sides are to blame.

^^^^ That was said on July 8th, 2015....GGG/Lemieux was announced on July 25th....SOG called them up on July 26th according to Loeffler. So, according to the timeline, SOG is correct in his statements because Loeffler out of his OWN mouth in an interview said GGG/SOG would have to meet at 164 just 2 weeks before announcing GGG/Lemieux and never had the chance to say any different being that SOG didn't contact them until the day after Lemiuex fight was made.





Conclusion: Another lie was told by Team GGG....and this time is wasn't even Super Mario Sanchez either, it was Luigi Loeffler

Canelo should offer him a split across the board then. If GGG refuses to take $15 mill flat, then offer him 30-35% split on all profits (which a 30% split should be a lower $$$ amount if GBP was offering a more than fair offer on the flat fee initially....if it isn't, then the flat fee wasn't a legit offer) and make the fight happen.


I really don't see why it's so important for GB to try and play everyone out of their rightful cut of the proceeds by offering them a flat fee and not willing to negotiate a % split like normal....especially when people are refusing to accept the flat fee.


Canelo is literally about to lose out on fighting the 2 most popular fighters, outside of Canelo himself, between 160-168 because they wont offer even a 70/30 split. That, to me, says the projected #'s are much bigger in the pot for BOTH fights than Coke Boy is letting on and Team GGG as well as Team JCC knows it as well
