Fighters being overpaid hurts the sport in the long run. Hell, I want dudes to bank up too, but within perspective.

If cats without a large following are getting $500k to fight a guy ranked 50th in their division, they'll evenutally want $750k to fight a fringe contender ranked in the top 15. Hell, should they have to fight a top 5 opponent they'll want a mil plus. The real kicker is that they can't sell out an arena or get a million tv views.

Networks or promoters will only be able to afford them for 1 or 2 fights a year. Meanwhile the boxer's skills are getting stagnate and they become entitled. Now imagine a division with 3 or 4 nikkas like that and now we got a bunch of mythical match ups that won't happen but should happen. Wash, rinse, and repeat.

Just like these fast food workers don't deserve $15 an hour, but in 2017 every job should at least start at $10 with a 50cent or $1 raise a year and after a certain level (lets say $12 bucks) shyt gets capped off. At least people are given the opportunity to build towards something. You know give them some drive.

Same shyt with boxing. Give nikkas the world too soon and they don't' grow.

I don't disagree with you on that. But to say the other top name, especially if they have a good draw of their own (Broner), only deserves $3-5MM is just your standom talking. Just get your boy Holberto to come up off that guap, he been jerking Manny out of, and have him fairly distribute it.

Now T-Craw at $4mm+ppv is fine. Even those his ppv tanked, and BATB (who is/was a bigger draw than T-Craw) got the same dough, but Broner would deserve more.

It's' not like they doing any heavy lifting or working outside and shyt.

shyt if everyone knew they could make that much doing some shyt like that, a lot of people wouldn't strive for more. Just like if a boxer can get 300k for fighting some janitor from Argentina ranked 37 in the world, they'd be content fighting those types of guys for the rest of their career. They'd only lose a combined 5 rounds outta 20 fights and then think they're Roy Jones or some shyt.

Look for fighters to mysteriously postpone and put off fights. Look for fighters who secretly train like savages with NO fight on the books. This is a way to benefit from cycling on without a testing window approaching.

everyone made that in the 60s and early 70s and nothing happened. 12 dollar an hour =/= 300k and people working those shytty jobs do alot more than take orders.

I know this may be an unpopular opinion and it is no indictment on Crawford's talent but no one gives a fukk about Terrence Crawford and all the trash talking in the world won't change that fact.
Crawford is in a odd position where he needs a fight against a dude like Pacquiao to become a star but he is such a nonfactor in terms of star power that getting a fight against a dude like Pacquiao is going to be difficult as hell.

I think if he played the villian a la Floyd against Pac, it would make him more popular especially if he won.

Crawford is in a odd position where he needs a fight against a dude like Pacquiao to become a star but he is such a nonfactor in terms of star power that getting a fight against a dude like Pacquiao is going to be difficult as hell.

I think this is a case where HBO's budget cuts really show. It feels like the old HBO would be pushing Crawford and forcing him into the public and helping make him a bigger draw. To me it seems like HBO isn't doing enough to promote him. Usually HBO likes when they have a talented fighter because they can brand him as elite and say it is because of them. They did it with Chocolatito and it is working. They need to do it with Crawford...especially because his ceiling is much higher - he fights in and around divisions with much more high profile fights.

Of course they do more than just take orders, but you can't compare that to nikkas that are actually doing physical shyt outside such as cutting lawns and painting houses. Minimum wage down here is like $7 bucks an hour. nikkas at fast food joints deserve to make more than that, but nobody will ever convince me that work is worth $15 an hour. Assistant managers at retail jobs don't even make that much and they do the regular shyt and help manage people.

It's' all good though. We'll just agree to disagree. I don't wanna derail the thread or anything. I just used an example that mirrored boxing.

Paulie on the other hand will get dominated or win boring fights against fringe dudes or past it cats and would somehow still find himself on your tv. Then he'll turn around an act like he has it so hard and that he didn't' enjoy some sort of privilege.

The problem is youre thinking if this guy flipping burgers gets 12. The assistant manager will stay at 12. Its a reason Bernie sanders lost. He wasn't able to explain that when that burger flipper makes 12 everyone elses wage in the country will drastically go up.

Exactly

Duddy is the only cat I can think of as average as Paulie, but he never had the longevity or as many career defining fight opportunities.

Mesi wasn't special either, but at least he had power and a decent hometown following.
