That is true. GRJ really does want that fight and I have no doubt he would take it in a second.
I look forward to the fights he will make at his weight. He has to tools to be the kingpin there and that division is stacked. Russell is that dude, he just happened to face Loma who imo is the real deal

Only Gary Russel for that runback and Sosa to prove himself. But Russell and Sosa got a ton of heart. All these other dudes are :hubie:
@GREENandYELLOW

I don't really buy into this "everybody avoiding Loma" talk. This gets mentioned about any good fighter but really...?
He fought Roman, Walters, Salido and GRJ already...

Title holders in 126:

Selby --> never heard of the possibility of a Selby vs Loma fight when Loma was a fw, I don't think it's someone they wanted cause Selby doesn't brig that much to the table and he isn't that big of a challenge either
Frampton and LSC --> both moved up and fought each other when Loma moved up too, the firs half of 2016, again, hardly ca be accused of ducking. They ducked Rigo when they were in 122 but that's a different story.
Valdez --> he also became truly relevant in 2016 when he won the title while Loma moved up to 130.

other 130 champions now:

Berchelt just became a champion and he has a mandatory fight now --> undeserved criticism
Gervonta Davis is a 22 years old guy who also just became a champ and also has a mandatory --> undeserved criticism
Corrales just beat Uchiyama twice which is the best win anyone has in the division so 1: let that man rest a little, 2: they actually talked about a fight between them but the negotiations failed cause Arum says he asked too much money. We can't really know how much he really wanted or anything...

other notable fighters at 130: Aside of Salido none of them was brought up as a possible matchup for Loma by him or his team.

So 2 out of the 3 champions certainly don't duck him and run like rats and the last one is at least questionable but as we're talking about someone who just beat Uchiyama back to back both times in Japan I don't really buy into the "ducking" accusations.
And then there is Salido's case, there are more narratives there too but he isn't a champion now ad Lomacheko supposedly talked about the champions now.

Loma is a good fighter but he rather seems frustrated now than correct. He's swinging wildly but at who exactly...?

Alvarez vs. Chavez Rematch is Going Down on April 29

By Miguel Rivera

A few weeks ago it appeared to be unlikely, but apparently a deal has been worked out for a rematch between Mexican rivals Ramon Alvarez and Omar Chavez.

Alvarez, who had little interest in the fight, has confirmed that he'll face Chavez again on April 29 in Rosarito, Baja California, under the promotion of Zanfer And TV Azteca televising the card.

The fight takes place a week before their brothers are scheduled to trade punches. Raul's younger brother, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, will face Omar's older brother, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, on May 6th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The first time Ramon and Omar collided was in 2014, with Alvarez walking away with a clear decision win.

Although Alvarez was disappointed that the fight will not be in Las Vegas on the undercard of the pay-per-view battle between their brothers, in the end he was pleased with the monetary offer for the rematch.

"In the end there was always going to be the rematch. I think it was better in Las Vegas on the same card as our brothers, but neither Chavez Jr. nor Chávez's dad wanted to have that distraction and the fight will instead be done a week before. Because we are going to have all of the attention - I am sure that I will repeat the dose on Omar, and I hope this time by knockout," stated Alvarez to ESPN Deportes.

"What attracted me to this fight is that they told me that if I beat Omar I would fight for a world championship in my next fight, so I have to win to achieve my dream of competing in a world championship fight and beating him will give added motivation to my brother."

Ramon will reach the ring with a record of 24-5-2 record and 16 KOs, while Omar will do it with a record of 35-3-1 and 23 KOs.

Nico Hernandez, who won a bronze medal for Team USA at Rio 2016, will make his professional boxing debut on March 25 in Mulvane, Kansas, at the Kansas Star Casino, and has signed with promoter Knockout Night Boxing.

CBS Sports Network will televise the fight.

Hernandez, 21, is going to fight at flyweight as a pro, which may be why he doesn’t seem to have received a lot of major promoter attention coming out of the Olympics, and has signed with a small, regional promoter instead of a power firm like Top Rank, Golden Boy, or Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions brand.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 2/17:

- Jermall Charlo has told him he would like to fight GGG eventually. It would be an interesting match. GGG has more important business first and Charlo would need a couple fights at 160 to get acclimated.
- Believes Canelo has already vacated his MW lineal title by fighting at 154.
- Per TR, Horn is still Pacquiao's most likely next opponent.
- Hearing that Cotto and JMM are talking again.
- No prediction on how likely a McGregor vs. Mayweather fight is. If it is a boxing match, Floyd wins easily.
- Commission won't ban Angel Garcia from Danny's corner, but probably will punish him.
- Garcia vs. Easter this year? Probably not.
- No compelling reason to pick Washington over Wilder. Wilder is a huge favorite for a reason, but with HW's, who knows.
- British fans comparing Spence to Lacy are in for a rude awakening.
- Kell Brook has never ducked anyone.
- Kell knows making weight to fight Spence won't be easy.
- US TV for Spence vs. Brook has not been decided, but expecting it to be Showtime.
- Mansour vs. Kaufman doesn't have a lot of meaning as a fight, but should be an entertaining scrap.
- Hearing Adonis Stevenson may face Monaghan.
- Julian Jackson vs. GGG? GGG via big KO.
- No US TV deal for Joshua vs. Klitschko yet, but it will have US TV. They are getting there.
- Porter vs. Berto is happening in April on Showtime. Date and location are still TBD.
- Picking Broner by decision, but Granados is a live dog and wouldn't be surprised if he won. The fight will be 10 rounds (originally announced as 12).
- Gives Avanesyan a good chance vs. Peterson.
- Salido was offered more than 600k to face Lomachenko in a rematch.
- Congratulations to Lara on becoming a US citizen.
- Not sure who would win but Sergio Martinez vs. Mayweather at 154 would be a very rough night for Floyd.
- PPV buy prediction for JCC vs. Canelo? Maybe 400k.
- Lipinets could be a future champion, but he has a lot of holes in his game.
- Diaz has not priced himself out of a fight with Crawford. He is asking for a very fair purse. Arum has even told this to DiBella. There are others trying to sabotage this fight.
- Does not think much of Beristain working with JCC. JCC can have anyone working with him and it won't matter unless he puts in the work.
- Oscar Valdez vs. Jo Jo Diaz? Valdez.
- Valdez is likely to fight at StubHub on April 22 as the US portion of the Pacquiao PPV.
- Edwin Valero for the HOF? Laughable.
- Browne vs. Williams Jr. is an interesting fight. Picking Browne.
- Wilder is great for boxing. He is fun to watch, has beaten some solid opponents, has been trying to fight top opponents, draws a good crowd at home, has a good personality and is a good guy to cover.
- Hurd vs. Harrison is an outstanding fight on paper.
- Ivan Baranchyk vs. Abel Ramos was tremendous fight and probably the best fight in ShoBox history.
- Mythical fight: Samuel Peter vs. Razor Ruddock? Fun fight, would pick Ruddock.
- Mythical fight: Larry Holmes vs. Lennox Lewis? Toss up fight, but leaning toward Lewis.
- The relationship between the WBC and VADA has been great.
- Over/under 250k PPV buys for GGG vs. Jacobs? 250k would be if they are lucky.
- Does RJJ continue to fight because he needs the money and/or because he doesn't want to give up boxing? Believes it is both.
- Picking RJJ to beat Gunn.
- Bute vs. Alvarez will be on PPV in the US.
