He says if he ever came back, it would have to be big, but even if that situation presented itself, I don’t think he would do it.
He’s really a true professional. He knows if he ever came back to fight a top tier opponent, he would need tuneups. He’s not one of these guys that’s gonna let someone have an advantage due to his inactivity.
He didn’t go straight to Kovalev. That would have been silly.
Therefore, for a professional like Ward to come back, he would probably have to fight at least 3 times to do it the “right” way. Would he be willing to commit to that?
