Ummm yes. Rigo is a virtually unknown cuban fighter. Ward is a gold medal, #1 SMW and p4p great, as well as the face of HBO. Theres a stark difference between the two son.

Rigo's a tough sell anyway you look at it. Doesn't speak English, doesn't have a fan friendly style, not many big fights at 122.

Though Ward to me isn't a PPV attraction, it's a much easier sell.

I mean, I thought it was obvious. You dont have to own a promotional company to know that Ward is an easier sell than a 32 year old Cuban who fights in a defensive manner and doesnt speak english or have a fanbase.

Shinsuke Yamanaka (18-0, 13KOs) and Akira Yaegashi will put their World Boxing Council titles on the line in a doubleheader in August in Tokyo, it was announced Monday. Yamanaka will make the fourth defense of his bantamweight title when he faces No. 7-ranked Jose Nieves (22-2-3, 11KOs) of Puerto Rico on Aug. 12 at the Ota Ward Gym.

Yaegashi (17-3, 9KOs), a former WBA minimumweight champ who secured the WBC flyweight belt by beating Toshiyuki Igarashi in April, will take on Mexico’s 11th-ranked Oscar Blanquet (32-5-1, 23KOs) in his first title defense.

Hopkins vs. Kovalev Mandatory is Ordered By The IBF - Boxing News

According to the International Boxing Federation, an order has been issued for Bernard Hopkins (53-6-2, 32KOs) to make a mandatory defense of his light heavyweight title against Sergey Kovalev (21-0-1, 19KOs). Hopkins was scheduled to fight mandatory Karo Murat on July 13th in Brooklyn, but Murat was unable to enter the United States due to visa issues and the fight was canceled. Golden Boy Promotions, and Main Events, who promote Kovalev, were given until June 17th to reach an agreement or head to a purse bid. Hopkins has made it clear that he wants a unification fight in the fall, so it will be interesting to see how this situation works out.

Last Friday, Kovalev destoryed Cornelius White in three rounds. Hopkins won the title in March with a twelve round unanimous decision over undefeated Tavoris Cloud.
