:what: I'm not gonna even read past that first sentence you wrote. May is the bar and everyone is gets compared to him. I get his 23 I get he's young. But dude wasn't technical in this fight. He reminds me of what canelo did to trout but canelo actual hurt trout. But same activity level with trout or paulie trying to keep up the pace and canelo and broner pot shotting and getting busy in 30 seconds spurts. I stand by my first statement and the consensus broner wants no problems with a guy that has power especially at that weight class he leaves his body open too much and for the record I like broner too.

He didnt have to be technical in the fight because Pauletta couldnt hurt him and was only landing 1 punch for every 4 punches he threw even though Broner was standing right in front of him (Pauletta only landed 25% of his punches in that fight)

There was NOTHING technical....he just walked through Pauletta's punches and walked him down the entire fight:manny:

Again, when he beat Marcos Maidana, the haters are gonna say the same thing "Bu-bu Maidana exposed him" while AB will have another victory on his record over another 2x champion:yeshrug:

Adrien Broner hits a grand slam for Showtime, has the two most-watched cable fights of 2013

Adrien Broner has been the headliner in the two most-watched fights on cable in 2013 (Getty)You may not like Adrien Broner's attitude. You may despise his cockiness. But one thing is certain: When Broner fights, you watch.

Broner's split decision victory over Paulie Malignaggi in their WBA welterweight title fight from the Barclays Center in New York drew a peak of 1.3 million viewers during the broadcast on Showtime.

That, combined with the 1.4 million he drew for a one-sided win over Gavin Rees in a lightweight title fight on HBO in February, gives Broner the two most-watched boxing matches of the year on cable television in the U.S.
Only the heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Steve Cunningham in April, which averaged 1.2 million viewers and peaked at 1.7 million on NBC, did a higher number.

Since Showtime began tracking individual fights in 2009, Broner-Malignaggi is its second highest-rated bout, trailing only Austin Trout's victory over Miguel Cotto in December. Saturday's card from Brooklyn, that also featured Sakio Bika defeated Marco Antonio Periban and Seth Mitchell defeating Johnathon Banks, averaged 890,000 viewers. That is the second-highest since 2004, also trailing only the Trout-Cotto card, since Nielsen began tracking Showtime separately.

With the Floyd Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez pay-per-view upcoming that has at least an outside shot to break the all-time PPV mark, it's a good time to work for Showtime.

Broner brought the fans out a second time, even though there was a lot of negativity surrounding him for his crass behavior in the build-up to the Malignaggi fight.

Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports, said Broner is following the path that Mayweather, his idol, took to TV stardom.

"To put it simply, he makes a lot of noise and draws a lot of attention," Espinoza said. "He rubs some people the wrong way, but people react to him. It's similar to Mayweather in that you either like him and watch to watch him, or you dislike him and want to see him lose. Either way, they're tuning in."

Schaefer: HBO Rejected Hopkins-Stevenson Clash - Boxing News
By Keith Idec

NEW YORK — Golden Boy Promotions chief executive officer Richard Schaefer told BoxingScene.com that HBO rebuffed his inquiry about making a Bernard Hopkins-Adonis Stevenson fight.

Schaefer sent an email to an unidentified HBO Sports executive recently, but was informed in an email he said was returned a week later that the network wouldn’t televise a Hopkins-Stevenson fight. Hopkins’ last fight, in which the 48-year-old Philadelphia native won the IBF light heavyweight title from Tavoris Cloud, was broadcast by HBO.

Months after that deal was finalized, however, HBO Sports announced in a statement that it would no longer do business with Golden Boy Promotions, in which Hopkins is a partner. HBO will televise Stevenson’s next fight, his first since a career-changing, one-punch, first-round knockout of former WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson that HBO televised from Montreal on June 8.

A fight against Stevenson (21-1, 18 KOs) is attractive to Hopkins because it would afford him an opportunity to beat the man who defeated Dawson (31-3, 17 KOs, 2 NC), the southpaw who out-pointed Hopkins nearly 14 months ago in Atlantic City.

“I think Stevenson wants to fight Bernard,” Schaefer said. “And Bernard wants to fight Stevenson. It’s an interesting fight.”

Schaefer added that if a Hopkins-Stevenson showdown is ever made it would take place in Montreal or Quebec City, the two cities in which Hopkins fought Quebec-based Jean Pascal (27-2-1, 16 KOs) in light heavyweight title fights. The Haitian-born Stevenson resides in Longueuil, Quebec, a city near Montreal where Stevenson was raised.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old Stevenson could be headed toward a fight against Cloud (24-1, 19 KOs). Hopkins probably will encounter a less imposing opponent in his next fight, Germany’s Karo Murat.

Hopkins was supposed to meet Murat (25-1-1, 15 KOs) on July 13 at Barclays Center, but the fight was postponed indefinitely June 14 because Murat was experiencing visa issues that could’ve prevented him from arriving in the United States in time for the fight. Murat has since settled those undisclosed visa issues and Hopkins said over the weekend that their fight, which will be broadcast by Showtime, could be rescheduled for Sept. 21 at Barclays Center.

HBO already has committed to televising another light heavyweight championship match between WBO title-holder Nathan Cleverly (26-0, 12 KOs), of Wales, and Russia’s Sergey Kovalev (21-0-1, 19 KOs). Cleverly and Kovalev will square off Aug. 17 in Cardiff, Wales.

The IBF briefly installed Kovalev as Hopkins’ mandatory challenger once the Hopkins-Murat match was postponed, but Kovalev preferred the security of a guaranteed title fight against Cleverly, rather than waiting for a Hopkins fight to be made. The IBF has since made Murat the mandatory challenger for Hopkins again.

How about we discuss this Saturdays exciting MW clash between GGG and Macklin!

Exiciting is the word, I agree we have a nice scrap on our hands.

GGG's notable fights to date: Proksa (demolished), Past prime Ouma (stopped late, fun fight btw), 154 fighter Gabriel Rosado (he gets credit, but still...)

Macklin's notable fights to date: Sergio Martinez (brave effort, ultimately stopped late), Felix Sturm (ROBBED)

GGG's power against Macklin's chin will tell the story, and it'll end in 6 or less. Macklin not active enough to keep GGG off him, but much like Rosado, he'll be brave in defeat.

The problem is yall mad that he aint just like Mayweather.....so? Who is?:manny:

Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest fighters to ever box. That's like hating on players cause they aint Jordan:snoop:

People claimed that PDL "exposed" him, Gavin Rees "exposed" him, now Pauletta "exposed" him. They all have the same thing in common though....they all lost to him:heh:

27 opponents could have beat him, but they all lost. He's beaten 6 Top 10 opponents in his last 7 fights including 3 straight champs, but it aint enough:mindblown:

When he beats Maidana next then it's gonna be "Maidana exposed him":rudy:

Just let the young boy :cook:

He's only 23 years old and already a 3x Champion. Never lost any of his belts in the ring and is only gonna get better as he gets older.

Relax and enjoy the AB show:blessed:

This will always be Broner's biggest hurdle throughout his career. Dude beats the brakes off damn near everybody they place in front of him and cats will nitpick every aspect about dude. Right now Broner is a shooting star, but eventually shooting stars burn out. That might happen to Broner or it might not, but we all should enjoy the ride for however long it lasts.

Broner's defense is as good as it gets for such an offensive minded fighter. It will never be like Floyd's since he has a different temperament. Floyd wants to win first and look good 2nd. Broner wants to look good first and win 2nd. Floyd is a boxer first. Broner is a puncher first. It's as simple as that. If defense was a scale of 1-10, with Margarito being a 1 and Sweet Pea being a 10, Broner is like a good 7.5. That's well above average.

Does Broner's style need improving? Of course, but who's doesn't. He could have jabbed more against Paulie, but ended up still dominating dude in my eyes. I will admit that I'd like to see him end this year by fighting someone dangerous like a Maidana. LM and Garcia need to fight each other before stepping to Broner. Hell, the Russian cat who beat Guzman late last year is a good lil fight too.
