"You aint neva told no lie, You aint neva told no lie" :heh:

I still maintain that Roy Jones Jr is the greatest boxer Ive ever seen actively compete in the sport.

His natural gifts were one of a kind. Never seen before or after. As good as Roy was...and I agree, he was the best I have seen actively...he really had average at best boxing skill and technical defensive ability. Nothing like FMJ who is a master boxer and defensive genius...hell and FMJ aint even as good as Pernell was!

Roy's lack of that level of boxing ability and defense came back to haunt him once his superhuman reflexes came down to a mortal level. Its funny because B-Hop and Toney are MASTER boxers. Roy was a superhuman athlete.

He rarely used his jab and his only real way of technically defending himself was to go into a shell on the ropes.

Now still, no one could lay a glove on him because he was almost like Spidey in the ring. His reflexes, speed, and senses made it almost impossible to catch him clean. Only Del Valle was able to time him in his prime because he sparred with Roy so much he timed one of his moves. Never forget when Reggie Johnson threw one punch and Roy hit him with a two piece and THEN moved out the way while Johnson was still in mid punch! I replayed that shyt on slo-mo so many times! :ohlawd:

Speed generates power...but Roy was already a naturally hard puncher...so that made his power almost lethal. The body shot on Hill. :damn:

If Roy had more of an orthodox skillset he'd still be killing shyt today. Yet and still, how long your prime is plays a hand in how great an athlete you were. Roy had a decent length prime...and it was dominant. Not saying he was better than SRR...but in his prime....RJJ couldve defeated ANYONE..and I wouldve been likely to pick him to do so.

Definitely one of my all time favorite fighters...so thats just my lil synopsis of him.

Roy Jones Jr is the greatest fighter I've ever seen as well:whoo:

Dude started at 154lb and became the Heavyweight Champion of the World. That's like Canelo Alvarez one day becoming the Heavyweight Champion:ohhh:

He should've been 49-0 at the time he lost via KO to Tarver, but he received that wack ass disqualification loss to Montell Griffin:comeon:

I'ma always be a RJJ stan and there is no fighter from the 90s and up that is better than prime Roy Jones....none:ufdup:

:comeon:

I vividly remember Jones adjusting to Griffin's tactics and mounting a comeback while hurting Griffin until he took a knee. The ref NEVER separated them after Griffin took the knee so Jones naturally kept punching since Griffin wasnt flat on his back.

that is true...roy does have a couple of fights where did he fight at 154 though

Wow so hes even greater than I thought? :whew:

while this is true...Roy was a VERY cautious fighter...sometimes overly cautious depending on the opponent. That was one of the things that were hard to believe about him because of his gifts. Roy was like Floyd but much more power. He was overly cautious with Griffin the first time  but showed him no love the next fight. If we had only saw the RJ persona every fight...we wouldve seen even more guys get KTFO. The issue wouldve been he wouldve stood a greater chance of getting caught himself.

He actually started at 160 MW bro :mindblown:

I was going off of his last 1988 Olympics appearance at 154 breh. He started his professional career not at the middleweight limit of 160(he even he weighed in at 157lbs) against Ricky Randall (who was only 153lbs) in his first fight

*had to edit. wrote something extremely long and tried to shorten it and ended up leaving extra words in*

well I never seen anyone look superhuman like RJJ. the stuff that he did to some guys that were world championship fighters who had been boxing all their lives...:smh:

and I seen fighters more shredded than Roy and admitted dopers like Sugar Shane. If it were that simple...we wouldve seen a few more Roy Jone's by now.
