So I went to the fight.
This has kinda felt like the biggest fight Vegas has had in quite some time and yet it still felt like something was missing. It a big fight and there were lots of celebrities around and yet it still didn't feel that BIG........I'd wager it's because Crawford really didn't bring much to the table. Sure, there were a good amount of people who came out for Crawford but he isn't a household name that truly moves people.
The fight festivities being at the FontaineBleu as opposed to the MGM made it feel different than any fight I've ever been to. FontaineBleu is super nice but the North strip isn't totally built up yet so you don't get as much foot traffic in that area and it's so far away from Allegiant or any other casino which made it a bit strange.
I had a press pass to the fight but the seating was so awful for the press at Allegiant stadium that I literally purchased a ticket while inside the arena on stubhub so I could get a better seat on the 100 level. There's no reason press should be on the 400 level of a stadium during a boxing match. I could barely see the screen let alone the ring and I was about to go just go to the bar or home to watch the game before I decided that since I'm here, I want to witness history in person and I bought a ticket while inside the arena.
A $100 level seat cost me $1200 bucks and I felt like it was well worth it for the magnitude/history of the event.
No expense was spared by Turki and they had a free program/fight package on every seat which I've never seen at any other fight.
When I got to my seat, Cuttino Mobley and Hector from Training Day were about to fight and I had to break it up. Random, I know.
The merch for the fight was really dope. They were even selling replicas of the Ring Magazne Belt for $750.
It did feel like Bud sucked the life out of the stadium with his dominance.......It never really felt like Canelo had a shot after about the 8th or 9th round.
Overall I enjoyed it but I really don't need boxing in a stadium.
