Nah it's mostly because alot of fighters these days never think of the long term, only short term. You have fighters sitting out for months "waiting on a big payday" so they can get paid $10 mill for a fight. When they could have just fought 3 times a year for $3 mill each fight. The latter is the more common sense one because you get paid similar and you have more visibility with casual fans

Perfect example was Keith Thurman. Dude out of his own mouth admitted to turning down multiple fights because "the money wasn't enough". And that he won't get in the ring if it's under a certain amount, etc. When he's not realizing that fighting multiple lesser money fights will make him sharp, risk less injury, and add more visibility to his fame. And isn't it ironic that his "big payday" that he was supposed to get this year against Fundora was cancelled because tickets weren't selling :russ: :dead: :dead:

Only a handfull of dudes getting 3ms a fight and even then i dont think the promotional companies have budget. TR was losing money for example

Ok let's lower it then. It's better to get paid $1 million each for 3 fights a year, than to wait out a year for a $3 million payday

Point still stands lol

Thank you. The fighters back then were an inverse of today. More fights, less sparring. Nowadays it's less fights, more sparring

This is why you see so many cases of G-Man, Terry Norris, Riddikk Bowe, etc battling with so much head injuries and they were notorious for the high amount of sparring they endured
James Toney, despite being one of the best defensive fighters of the 90s, talks like he has a mouth full of peanut butter because of excessive hard sparring :snoop:

Interviewer: "Canelo said that he is going to rematch you in September of next year"

Bud: "That is news to me!"

:dead: :dead: :dead:

I hope Bud just moved down to 160, get all the titles at that weight class, and be Undisputed again. Or face Vergil Ortiz or Boots at 160 since they now don't want to duck him anymore and see him as a payday

Apparently, Johnson wanted to face Dempsey but it was stopped

Yeahh it's 50/50 if Jack Dempsey not fighting Black World title contenders was because of him ducking, or because no promoter or the white establishment wanted to see a Black fighter contend for a World title. Dempsey could have fought Jack Johnson, Sam Langford, or Harry Wills, but chose not to fight any of them :francis:

Just watched highlights like Badu Jack lost his fight last night :ohhh:

Maybe Jai Opetai could fight Mikaelijan now to unify titles
