They're really trying to fight Spence on a 3 year layoff.....if Virgil fights Spence he's an absolute clown.
He is currently hiding Zurdo from fighting Jai Opetaia

Also hid Zepeda from Shakur Stevenson for years until he had no choice

I think the Frank Martin fight would have been better honestly. Better build up + see how Hitchins does with someone athletic with pop.

realistically if Hitchins can't get Gary Russell since they both fighting on that card I wanna say and unify he just needs to go to 147 and Nap that IBF so he can be in the mix with Devin and Keyshawn (since Keyshawn says he wants to go to 147 after the Ortiz fight)

Yeah I want him to unify at 140 first at least, before moving up. I think Hitchins struggles with the strong pressure fighters more. Like with Lemos. Probably why he lost to Gary Russell in the amateurs also

you got more faith in him than me for sure lol, my thing is at some point if you dont fight the best you end up like Boo Boo where after so long when you finally get your shot the lights and levels too much imo

Yes for sure lol. He has a chance to be the most accomplished Boxer from Brooklyn outside of Mike Tyson and Zab Judah. But like you said it's up to him to actually make the fights against top 10 competition to prove it. I would hate for him to go into Boo Boo Andrade territory talking that "The fights have to make sense financially" crap that you hear often
TBH I think Eddie is more worried about Boots and getting him to become a superstar, nd Hitchins at his age prob feels he should be a super star now. I feel dude should bet on himself and do what it takes to scalp a few champs via unifications. He is stuck in purgatory where nobody really needs to fight him, so my thing Is if he can't unify after Feb by July he needs to focus on getting that 147 IBF because Devin wants to Undispute 147 so he has to get a belt there ASAP and force Devin and allegedly Keyshawns hand.

See IMO this is why he HAS to get a unification at 140 before he moves up. He needs that as a bargaining chip to get the big fights. If he can somehow trick Pitbull Cruz's team to fight him, that would be an easy path to unify. Or if Dalton beat Matias tonight, another easy route
I fear that if he goes to 147 with no leverage, it would make it easy for Haney and others to duck Hitchins. No guarantee he even gets a title shot at 147 with 0 leverage

Pitbull an Interim, Matias got there belt. I was more so saying use status as a Champ at 140 to somehow finesse a 147 IBF title fight ASAP to bait Devin, but IBF seems to be more strict than everyone else so IDK if he can do it like you can with the other sanctioning bodies.
