TBH I`m confused on Tim, because if we being real before the Cut he was getting in Fundoras ass, against Murta he fought like an idiot, and 2nd Fundora fight dude seemed mentally defeated, but before all of that people would say he had a super well crafted resume. We even had the angle of Charlo was shook of Tim when looking back I think Charlo wold have ended his career.
Greg Hacket said Spence been sneaking off to Philly for a while now and was even DMing about stuff, so I would assume from the looks Spence had been going around looking at trainers for the last 4-5 months and now has another 4 months before the fight aka a Camp (and Spence seems to have been in decent shape the last 2 years).
Where I`m going with this is Spence is levels above Tim, and there were loud mumblings about Spence having a horrible camp for the Bud fight and looked like shyt during the ring walk, not making excuses because Spence himself made no excuses but I`m just stating the situation.
I think all things considered most will agree the general theme is this fight is gonna be a fire fight and if Spence can't beat Tim, he needs to hang it up, but if Tim loses depending how Spence looks will be the real story on whether Tim is ass or Spence may have a potential for one last run.
Yeah, I’m on the fence re the Tsyzu/Fundora-cut narrative, he landed two nice right hands, but Fundora team adjusted and told him not to bang and just use/stick out your jab and straight and go to work at mid pace. It worked perfectly, and was the most effective Fundora has ever looked in his career, given his reach advantage, for which he tends to negate by wanting to bang on the inside with his hands down.
Tsyzu’s biggest issue has always been his hand recoil, given he stays with his head in the pocket, on the line usually, and up in the air with his chin sticking out. I shyt you not, people were concerned by this in his amateur days (he had only 9 or so fights), but he was able to cover it up by great offence, a strong training ethic and shrewd matchmaking by his promoters. But make no mistake, anybody that followed his career knew that he was most likely going to be target practice once he cracked the top 10 rankings for the upper echelon at 154. Top tier boxing takes no prisoners, it also exposes any weaknesses or defensive shortcomings.
The really real on Spence imv is/was the drop off in kinetic chain sequencing in punching mechanics, and the decline in his hip and trunk mobility. Great strength and conditioning coaches don’t just get you fit and strong, they get your body firing the right way for your boxing style and technique, as well as how your body performs for a specific opponent.
Just look at Pacquiao in the Ugas fight, lack of reach, none of the signature foot movement, no pop. Instead of flying his 25 man entourage around his whole career, he should have been investing in biomechanists, Pilates coaches and real sport science, perhaps even stem cell treatment to address lower vertebrae deterioration.
