Hurd was never that good to me. Sometimes you have fighters that can overwhelm very good fighters with sheer volume and they look tough to beat, especially if they are awkward. once they run in to the right one who has figured out the style, not only will they lose but then they will continuously lose because they have been figured out and they cant get away from the more technical boxers. also they have to maintain that extreme level of conditioning to be able to sustain the style. Paul Williams and Fundora are not quite as easy because of their awkward styles and lankiness. Shorter fighters not so much. Remember when Kassim Ouma fell off that cliff?
Being a volume puncher is the woat boxing style. It’s entertaining but it’s not sustainable.
Ironically, Lara “lost” to Paul Williams, but he really beat the shyt out of him so bad that people were calling for his retirement. The worst robbery I’ve ever seen.
Williams was definitely going to having a losing streak if not for the accident.
We saw Paul Williams look lost against Carlos Quintana, who was a c level fighter. It’s one of the most embarrassing fights I’ve ever seen. It’s up there with those Tito fights where he’s looking dumb against Hopkins and Winky.
