nikkas can hate on Toney all they want. I'm just glad he started posting on the Coli. :manny:

:heh:

I didn't even feel like going over about how RJJ's resume is much better than his, but this nikka just said Muhammad Ali was nothing but an athlete :snoop:

Muhammad Ali was nothing but an athlete:wow:

I had to say it twice because James just killed it with that:dead:

The problem is that it is flawed if when you use the same system without the athleticism you start getting knocked out cold. Nobody is saying you have to fight in one style. But theres boxing fundamentals and there is an ELITE athlete that is junping into punches using ridiculous speed and reflexes amd jumping straight back out.

If you watch the first Montell Griffin - RJJ fight you can see his flaws when hes in there with a fighter whos schooled with real boxing fundamentals.

Its why Hopkins has lasted so long.
umm no
roy just had a off night vs griffin
and was gonna win dat fight anyway if it wasnt for the dq

in the rematch he almost took his head off in da first round

Yes you absolutely can. Who does he have? Tarver who beat him 2/3. Virgil Hill. John Ruiz. Hopkins. A fat old McCallum. Montell Griffin 2 was a good win. The first figgt was even before Roy decided to hit him on the floor. :sas1:

You absolutely can compare that to Toneys resume.

I noticed you conveniently left off James Toney when going through Roy's resume. :heh:

who on google earf Nas does Toney have on his resume that can compare to Hopkins and Toney :mindblown:

James....listen breh. We respect you, but you really think you better than Roy?

Didn't Roy BEAT YOU as well? Tarver, Hopkins, Toney, Harding, Griffin, Trinidad, Ruiz at Heavyweight (who's better than any Heavyweight you beat) like come on OG:heh:

*and Tito was washed when RJJ fought him, but so was Holyfield when you fought him*

I never said he was "nothign but an athlete" at all. You seem to be misquoting that. I did say that he relied on speed and reflexes rather than boxing fundamentals. I mean this isnt news. He pulled back from punches straight, didnt bend his knees, tied up on the inside. All you have to do is watch his figgts with ken norton. A fighter who was well schooled by Eddie Futch. Also watch his fight with Jimmy Young. You are acting like what I said is blasmephous or something. I thought this was commonly known upon boxing fans.

What does technical skill mean though James?

If Ali and RJJ were able to accomplish what they were able to, without any technical skill, why are you downplaying them?

No, they may not be the most "purest" of boxers, but that shyt means nothing. If an inferior "skilled" boxer (RJJ) was able to beat you head to head, doesn't that speak volumes of how great he mustve been?

Or does it reflect back to how you must not have been as talented as you thought you were if a guy half as skilled as you dominated you:manny:

It can't be both ways James.

James beat ruiz. He was robbed in the first peter fight. he was robbed in the first rahman fight. Like I said before you need to actually watch the fights. Cus theres absolutely no way that Peter won that first figgt. Same with the Rahman figgt.

You beat Ruiz while on steroids and the decision was reversed:comeon:

You must've forgot:sas2:

Roy was great. Best athlete I ever seem in the ring. Doesnt mean he had more technical skills than James Toney. And technical skills are extremely important. Not every one in boxing is an elite athlete. You want to see a poster by for skills? Look at Nicolino Locche. Dude couldnt punch worth a shyt, was a chain smoker and still became an ATG and HOF. Imagine if Roy learned how to box properly under Futch or Fisher or Miller. :wow:

Listen, Ima huge Rigondeaux fan and believe him to be the most skilled fighter today. However, technical skills only take you so far.

How many times have we seen the more fighter with better pure boxing ability lose to someone who was not on that level of skill?:manny:

That's all I'm trying to say.
