breh, Carr was just as good if not better. dont be blinded by the fact he didnt win a belt. would Zab have been Quartey, Oscar, or Felix??? the WW division then was MUCH better than it has been leading up to now.
you have a point but nikkas give shyt about zab about being an underachiever then what would you call carr?

I wouldnt say Carr was underachiever. He was a good fighter who basically was in a division with 2 HOFers and a possible 3rd. There is no doubt if Tito, Oscar, and Ike werent roadblocking him, he wouldve won a title. No doubt about it. Now...remember, I said he was a better WW than Zab, not a better fighter or better career. Zab only one won significant fight at WW...it was for the undisputed title however. Zab surely shouldve been a better fighter than he was given his skill set though. He was best as JWW but got rich at WW.

The vast majority of opinions including even Jim Lampley on the faceoff, were saying that Cotto was going to get that work. That Sergio is too big for him, Sergios style is too hard for him, and he will get knocked out. Nobody said that Sergio was just going to win. No they said Sergio would knock him out.

I stuck by Cotto because ive been a fan for a long time. But its crazy how once Cotto proves wrong all naysayers, it was a win/win fight for him, and he gets no credit cause he fought a washed fighter.

Give credit when credit due, yall said Cotto was going to get knocked out. Cotto looked sharp, and once Sergio felt his power he folded. Cotto decided to stay super disciplined and stick precisely to the gameplan, is why you didnt see a 1st round KO. But Cotto looked sharper, crisper, and more leverage in his punches than how he looked when he was undefeated, and to take this victory away from him is crazy.

I been sayin this since the fight was announced. I think I may have even been one of the first to post that it was officially announced. I said this was a win-win for him...before the fact. It was the most money out there, a shot at a 4th title. How was it not a win-win? I picked Sergio to win but I didnt say he would KO Cotto. I pretty much saw it as a decision for Sergio. It was a good win, but why is it when the obvious cannot be ignored and is stated that a fighter gets no credit?? These questions were always there. Had Floyd fought him, it wouldve been the same thing, nikkas would be all in his shyt too. But Floyd had more to lose than Cotto. I am not taking the victory away from him but dont sit here and overstate the win too like this was prime Sergio or BHop. I gotta give props to @Skip b , he called it. He said Cotto would stop him.

247 duped me..prime sergio woulda mopped the floor with cotto:beli:

I definitely was wrong....even without 24/7. I said here that I thought even coming off the layoff he would be refreshed injury-wise. I had concerns about rust but I thought he would be completely healthy. maybe he was before he entered the ring. he did get outboxed....that cant be denied. I dont think he was boxing poorly, but he wasnt effective. pretty sure the Martinez that went with Punisher and Pavlik wouldve won. but Cotto's body looked very good at 155. I think he is a tough cookie at 154. I think he could beat GGG too.

props to Cotto...but he was fighting a man who's body is obviously shot. bad knees, bad shoulder, bad hands. its Cotto's best and most defining win but thats where it ends. he has 2 A-fighters on his resume but both were past prime. we actually missed part of Sergio's prime because he didnt get the big breaks early on. Tito beat PRIME Oscar. Basically stopped Reid's career before it got started good. Beat undefeated Vargas. Beat Joppy. Those wins were better than mostly anything Cotto did. Cotto's win over Serge is similar to Tito's win over Pernell....but I think the Pernell win was much better because he appeared to have more left than Sergio, he just didnt have a belt. Plus he was still hard to hit. Now throw in guys like Blocker, Carr (who was just as good if not better WW than Zab), Camacho, Campas, Mayorga.

Cotto's resume is solid however. Serge, Shane, Zab, Paulie, Margs, Clottey, old Mayorga...but it still pales in comparison to what Tito was able to do against prime opposition.
We all know he got outboxed and made a fool of in that fight and got a gift. Tito was an average boxer with specially wrapped hands. Cotto is a better fighter hands down

I knew Takam would beat Thompson...........

Martinez bout to give Cotto that work and it has nothing to do with the weight differential

If anyone is interesting in betting, here are my picks for Saturday...

Braehmer over Bolonti (Germany)
Roman over Ponce De Leon (Mexico)
Butler over Hall (England)
Lartey over Forbes (Tacoma, Washington)
Martinez over Cotto (New York City, New York)
Sonsona over Vazquez Jr. (New York City, New York)
Jackson over Lee (New York City, New York)
5/7 ain't bad :ehh:

Jackson :snoop:
Lee :beli:
Martinez :to: (it was like watching Oberyn get that work once again)
Cotto :whew:

you have a point but nikkas give shy-.......................................
Veteran super featherweight Miguel “Micky” Román (46-11, 35 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over former two-division world champion Daniel Ponce de Leon (45-7, 35 KOs) on Saturday night in front of 7,000+ at the Monumental Estadio de Beisbol in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico. Román dropped Ponce de Leon in round six and got a referee’s stoppage with a barrage of unanswered punches in the tenth. The 34-year-old Ponce de Leon, who has now been stopped in three of his last four outings, announced his retirement from boxing in an interview after the fight.
